Sony WH-1000XM4: XM4 stopped powering on — still works with 3.5mm.

My Sony XM4 suddenly stopped powering on — no LED, no response even after charging for hours and trying resets.
However, it still works perfectly when plugged in with a 3.5mm audio cable.

I also confirmed there's no issue with the USB cable — tried multiple cables and chargers, still no sign of charging or power.

Has anyone experienced this? Is it likely a dead battery or a charging IC failure?

Sony WH-1000XM4: No sound from the left side.

Hello, I bought Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones in unknown condition. It turned out that the right side, the speaker and the touch panel were fully functional. On the left side, the buttons, NFC and indicator light work. The only biggest problem is that there's no sound from the left speaker. I tried to connect to the computer via aux and again, sound could only be heard from the right side. What could be causing this problem? I would be very grateful for your answer.

Sony WH-1000XM4: Headphones not charging after cleaning.

Hi,

I recently bought a pair of XM4s off Facebook Marketplace for decently cheap ($100). so I'm okay with them just being completely busted. I took the ear pads off to try to clean it (used alcohol wipes and a bit of soap) after I noticed a bad odor, but they just will not charge. I tried the Reddit solution of holding the power button then plugging it in, but that didnt work. Does this seem like a battery issue, a me being to harsh with cleaning issue, or a Facebook Marketplace issue?

Sony WH-1000XM4: Choosing a Replacement Battery

Hey everyone, my Sony XM4 factory OEM battery is beginning to lose charge capacity after years of use.

There are so many battery replacement options, and none of them are OEM. The battery market has a lot of rebranding and ambiguous resellers. It's difficult to find a quality option and buying direct from Panasonic or Anker (back when they still sold replacement batteries) doesn't appear to be an option.

Where can I find quality replacement batteries? I don't mind paying premium prices for a good battery with a warranty.

Sony WH-1000XM4: I’m getting a high pitched sound out the right side randomly

Hi everyone. After having success with other repair help on here I figured it was time to tackle my headphone lot I bought. I mainly bought this lot for this pair of headphones. They work fantastically however I have a problem where randomly you can hear this popping that will turn into a loud high pitch like whistle almost.

I’m wondering if it’s a speaker that’s dying but I am honestly not to sure cosmetically they look great and I have been using them a bit in this condition with everything else going well.

To clarify the right side still works it’s not dead but this whistle sound will happen randomly and only happens over bluetooth

Any help is appreciated thank you guys

Sony WH-1000XM4: Faulty noise cancellation - broken mic suspect

My WH-1000XM4s have extremely poor noise cancellation performance - about the equivalent of lightly placing your fingers on your ears. The microphone also doesn't work properly and I suspect this is the reason for the faulty noise cancellation.

They are useless on buses with noise cancellation turned on. Makes all these loud explosion noises which are in sync with the engine hums. I'm pretty sure it's the mic because in my testing, the mic doesn't pickup ANYTHING at all normally. However if I shout extremely loudly it'll catch the peak of the loud parts.

Any thoughts on my situation? I plan to follow the Microphone Array Replacement guide on this site, I am completely new to fixing stuff. I would love help sourcing replacement parts. On aliexpress I've found these "Original mic noise reduction label for Sony WH-1000xm4 xm3 xm2" but chatgpt says noise reduction labels are not what I need and most likely I need a full Replacement Noise Reduction Microphone but I'm not sure where to find these. I am based in Australia.

Thanks all
