Sony WF-1000XM4 Wireless Earbuds: The batteries in my XM4s have very rapidly lost their battery life

In a week my ear buds have gone from around the 6-7 hours of playback i've been used to to lasting around an hour at best. Is this likely to be dying batteries? If so how easy are they to replace, and if not what could be causing this?

When I changed the batteries, I added a small cotton ball (from the end of a q-tip) inside to put pressure on the top circuit board on the battery so there would be good contact. Seems to be working fine. Is there any reason why I should not have done this? i.e. should I remove the cotton ball?

Hey there. I have already tried two new batteries for the charging case. They behave normal when connected like charging the earbuds or showing current battery stats in the app. But when I try to charge the case, the indicator LED flashes red and the battery won't be charged. This only happens with replacement batteries. If I connect the original battery, it can be normally charged.

I already tried resetting the headset, but it didn't solve the problem at all. Does anyone have a solution?

Sony WF-1000XM4 Wireless Earbuds: Microphone fried from sauna, can it be repaired?

As the title states I use my WF-1000XM4 when I workout & in the sauna afterwards that is pretty hot, up towards 100 degrees celsius for 10-40 minutes. Pretty soon I started to use them in the sauna the microphone started to break down. Everything else works fine after almost two years of use in the sauna. The microphone controller seems to work since people can hear me only very, very low. I believe that the receptors needs to be replaced, cleaned or something else and thus my question. Do anyone have any experience repairing the parts of the microphone in these headphones? Thanks in advance.

Hi, community!

I've followed the instructions from the site to replace the batteries of a unit after the famous recurring probleem with battery drain in this model.

After changing the battery in the right unit, a white noise started after repair. The noise it's gone when I disable ANC, so probably has to do with the mic or the seal.

Does anyone had this problem before?

when i plug in a charger it keeps on blinking red, i thought it was the battery that is damaged so i changed it but it still blinks red. and when i charge it while the battery cable is unplugged it still blinks red. does it mean i have a problem with the carging port or the mainboard?

I guess this is something to do with overheating? I did remove the case and re-seat the white connector inside but they still have this blinking red light after a few minutes of charging. I do not have the original charger at hand, so if anyone can give me the correct charger voltage to use it would be good, also, I tried to charge them from my MacBook via the USB and it is still blinking after a few moments..... Any ideas?

My right earbud on my XM4s have been activating randomly and making constant beeping sounds, like when you tap it. Went back and forth with Sony support and got nowhere with them. Is it possible to replace the touchpad?

I went to use my earbuds yesterday and neither one would turn on and give me any kind of signal or connection to the phone or any other device. The case is charging fine and i tried all the resets that are supposed to help including trying the factory reset but the case never showed the lights like it was supposed to for that which i assume means the earbuds are not charged. Did both batteries go bad at the exact same time or is something else going on here?

I got the Sony XM4 for almost 3 years. For 1 year now, one of the earbuds was constantly lower on battery. It would consume its battery very fast, even after charge. I initially adapted my use (more frequent charging) but now it's unusable.
I came to think it is a connection case/bud problem (in addition to a degraded battery in the bud, due to the constant charge/ uncharge). My guess is that the bud doesn't deactivate while in the case, and the charge pin is not at its best. for the record, I cleaned the connectors on both sides regularly to see if dust could cause that.

I could replace the battery of the earbud first, but I doubt it will solve the problem. What to do with the case? replace the whole connector pad? replace the PCB as well?

I had these for a while and for the most time I was able to hear for quite a distance, I was using a larger ear cups (they were default when I got them) and the left earbud fell out and hit the ground.

When I picked them up it was still working until I played music and I was getting distance problems with it. I tried resetting and used the app for a stronger connection and it seems like It was more a earpiece problem.

Sony support sent me to their only repair center. They quoted $40 to update firmware and sync the 2 earbuds, and I have to buy a new left earbud entirely for $100. That is ridiculous, and I was wondering what material I could potentially buy to replace the part that came out, or should I ignore it? The oval piece fell out and snapped off about 2-3mm of one of the rounded edges, The seal also came out, currently just have it wedged the wrong way in but I believe the IP rating has been reduced.
