Sony Bravia 42" LCD TV: Sony Bravia TV turns off repeatedly.

My Sony Bravia TV (model number KDL-46W905A) turns off randomly every few minutes. At first it seemed that it only happened when it was directly plugged into the wall, but not when it was plugged into an extension cord, but now it happens no matter what. It always turns back on after a couple of seconds, and is otherwise working perfectly, but something seems to be tripping and turning it off, with no apparent pattern. I am new to fixing stuff but really don’t want to have to throw away an otherwise perfectly good television that my landlord was going to throw out! Thanks to anyone who can offer any advice!

Sony Bravia Series: LCD removal and replacement, XBR-65X900H

I took apart my XBR-65X900H in order to replace backlight LEDs (issue:TV blinks 4 times and turns off).

I cannot dislodge the LCD screen from the bottom frame piece. It seems stuck together with the plastic piece along the bottom edge, it is quite impossible to disengage the LCD from the frame piece. LCD Screen looks like it is pinched in that bottom frame.

Is anyone familiar with this model (Aug 2020), and has anyone been able to perform backlight LED replacement with this mode. Please let me know I am desperate.

I followed this troubleshooting diagram for the 4x blinking code, but I am getting different results with voltage readings when the TV is booting up, or TV on but blinking 4 times, or off in standby mode.

In other words I get the 3.3V or the 0V at both testing points at different power states of the TV.

So my question is, when am I supposed to be reading these voltages?

While it is booting up, after is has booted and is blinking the code, or plugged in but off in standby mode?

Which pin do I disconnect and ground to bypass six red blinking lights? Board number APDP-209A1 (Brown board). On the board there is the word "Secondary" with an arrow pointing; (CN6401-8) BL_ERR.

I assume this is the pin I want to disconnect and ground. Do I count from the top? Does secondary mean it's on the bottom and not the top of the plug since there are two wires for each position?

I removed the eighth pin counting from the top down on the upper row and it prevented my TV from powering on.

The real model is Sony kd55x85j but I couldn't find it in the list so went with the closest one.

I dont know when or how this happened as I bought it off a guy.

I have a Sony Bravia KDL-42W705B purchased Jan 2015.

When I turn it on I now get a full screen of blank light Blue and no sound.

Sony says you may reset the TV settings to the factory default but I can,t as there is no menu or home button due to No picture. Anyone help as SONY say it is out of the one year warranty and they are not liable for any repairs.

Its a disgrace, I will never buy SONY again and will advise others to follow suit.

Surely A TV should last more than 18 months

I have tried a power reset without success Jayeff thanks though.

I have attached a photo of the blue screen Oldturkey03,

Hope this helps

Sony Television: I have horizontal lines on part of my TV screen.

Hi all - Hopefully someone out there might be a little bit more helpful than the Sony Troubleshooting Guide:

Sony Bravia Model No: KDL-47W805A

Only yesterday a number of horizontal lines appeared on my TV screen, only the lower 1/3 portion of the screen though. They intermittently flicker between 1/3 of the screen having visible lines to only the top three of four lines.

I have attached two pictures below which I hope go some way to demonstrating the issue.

So far I have:

1: Switched the TV off for a period of time and then switched it back on - The lines still appear.

2: Removed all the connecting cables (Amazon, HDMI, Cable) and then switched it back on again - The lines still appear.

3: Conducted a factory reset - The lines still appear.

4: Applied pressure along the edges of the TV where the lines appear - No change, the lines are still visible, no distortion to them. Although this might seem strange I read somewhere that if there is a loose connection along the LCD connectors applying pressure might confirm this is the lines change with the application of pressure.

5: Given up :(

The light turned green and the TV successfully tuend on with no issues and a great picture. Turned the TV on and off after about an hour of use and then turned on with no issues, one power cycle. It sat overnight, approximately 14 hours plugged in with no operation. Turned on and the the TV has the 4 blinking lights again. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sony Television: Bravia KD-60X690E, 2 red blinks

Greetings,

My TV (Sony Bravia KD-60X690E) suddenly doesn’t turn on. It’s only about 2 years old. When I try to turn it on the only thing that happens is the stand-by light flashes red twice. I’ve already done some research and saw that this is usually a power board issue. I got myself a multimeter and started reading voltages and this is what I’ve found so far:

With the TV plugged in I have 5v to standby (expected)

I don’t have voltages to anything else until I try to turn on the TV, then I have voltage for about a second or two before it dies off. All of the voltages looked fine except in 2 areas

None of the areas that should give 12v to tcon (there were 3) had any voltage being sent. So looking at the image that would be the smaller bottom plug number 3 and 4, and the 1 tcon 12v on the larger plug

The LED was suppose to get 155v, but was getting 120v

What does this mean? Is the power board need replacing? The board was a little dusty but didn’t see anything else that looked wrong (but I haven’t tested any of the components) Thanks
