Sony NWZ-E473: My Walkman doesn't work when plugged into USB

Whenever I plug my walkman into the USB connection to my PC, it doesn't respond. I have no idea what is wrong.

i have problems in minimizing and maximizing the volume of my NWZ-E473 sony walkman. it seems that when i press the volume button at the side of my device, it wont work. the volume is constant. pls. help me!

Sony NWZ-E473: Black thumbprint on screen

There is a black thumb print and the rest of the screen is white. Can this be fixed? And how?
