DVD player is not reading DVDs or CDs

I own this four years old Sony Home Theatre system. I noticed recently, it is not reading either DVDs or CDs. When I insert a DVD, it takes a while to read, but shows 'No disc'. The tray simply opens on its own.

I appreciate your help to solve this problem.

Sony DVP-SR200P: The door to the disc tray came off... Need to reattach

The door came off along with a very small spring which is responsible for keeping the door closed when the disc tray is not being opened. I am not sure where the spring belongs! Can anyone help me?

The door does not stay closed, the spring is still there, but a latch is missing.

Push the power button, no power ‘on’ light. Made sure it was properly plugged into the surge protector strip, check. Make sure the strip was plugged into an outlet and the power is on, check. Unplug it from the power strip and connect it to another wall outlet in the kitchen that has power. Push the power button, still no power light. Is it because these are not expensive that they die so easily? Can I fix it?

Sony DVP-FX730: Replacement battery connexions for Sony DVP-FX730

The original battery was thrown out by mistake which had the 3 way male adapter. An article states that you can use two 3.7V batteries. The connection to the original battery has 3 wires, red, white and black.

Can you explain how the 3 wires should connect to the two 3.7V batteries?

I am an electronics engineer.

Hi, I have a Sony DZ950 that suddenly became non-functioning. It could be because my house had a power tripped recently.

When I tried to turn on the DVD, the white light at the bottom of the DVD screen shows a white light for about half a second and fades out. It won’t power on so no error message and even the welcome message “Hello” is not showing. The DVD player just turned off as soon as the button is released.

I tried to open it up but see no obvious damage on all the fuses. AC power input is fine when measured with an ammeter. However, 12V and 5V output doesn’t seem to work. Can someone please guide how to pinpoint the exact issue from here?

Changed amp board on sony bdv e3100 home theatre system. The dvd worked for about 10 minutes and then the volume went out .No sound since but all other function are working

This model is RDR-VX515, VCR/DVD recorder combo. When I press the eject button I hear a noise as if the ejection process has begun. Then the tray does not open and I get the message "LOAD" as if the tray has opened and I have closed it. The next message is "NO DISC."

Actually, my device wasn't listed....***.

I want to fix a Sony 5 disk, CD/DVD player for 95 yr parents who don't have the Internet to watch movies or stream music (can't afford it).

They have a Sony player, model DVP-NC665P, Serial #1103500.

For a while it has been turning on, sometimes not. Pressing the button sometimes caused an instantaneous blip of display, top middle of the screen, and then it goes out. Now nothing happens.

Any idea of what to fix or replace? (Thanks for the idea to include image(s) of circuit board(s). Hope that helps.

I have checked the battery with multimeters, it's giving me like .1 Volt, which I don't think is very good. Also, the output which I am trying to check, was 1 volt earlier, but is now down back to .006 volts, which I'm not sure is right. Does anyone know what might be causing this? It won't turn on, even with the battery out.

Usually dvd players have a screw inside that you can monkey around with to get your laser flowing better if the player isnt reading very good

this is the underside of the laser and the two screws on the circuit board here are my best guess lmk your thoughts

My Sony SLV-D201P DVD/VHS Player works fine with VHS but the DVD has vertical lines running through the picture and the display is in black and white.
