Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55: Cybershot E91:01 Flash problem

I got this camera with a broken screen and a stuck lens. I replaced both with working parts and reassembled everything. The camera can take photos, but the flash doesn’t work.

When I half-press the shutter button, the flash indicator blinks for a while, then an E:91:01 error appears and the camera takes the photo without using the flash.

I replaced the entire flash assembly, but that didn’t fix the issue. I also tried replacing the main motherboard, the flex cable, and even the whole casing. I’ve practically replaced almost the entire camera, but the problem is still there.

I also tested it with another flash assembly that I know works. When I inserted the battery and turned the camera on, the flash fired once by itself on the date/time setup screen, without pressing the shutter. After that, it didn’t fire again.

Does anyone have any ideas what I should check next?

As you can see, it looks as if the brightness had been turned up super high (IDK what exactly this problem is called). I have confirmed it's just the screen. The photos are fine. I can still make out some stuff when I view the camera at an angle, with the bottom of the camera facing me.

I tried factory resetting it using the "Initialize" option but that didn't help. Also tried removing and re-seating the LCD ribbon cable. Any chance I can get away with not having to replace the screen?

Sony Camera: Help needed: Change language on Japanese version Sony RX100 M7

Hello everyone,

I purchased a Japanese model of the Sony RX100 M7 (DSC-RX100M7) and found that the menu language is locked to Japanese.

I would like to switch the menu language to English (or other languages) but have been unable to do so.

Here is what I have already tried:

- Installed the “OpenMemories-Tweak” app by ma1co and attempted the “Unlock all languages” option, but the tool reported “unsupported” / did not detect the model.

- Reviewed GitHub issue #538 on Sony-PMCA-RE, which shows some success with RX100 M7 but mentions bugs. :contentReference[oaicite:9]{index=9}

- Confirmed that the camera’s firmware is version [insert firmware version] (if you have it)

- Used a PC with Windows 11, tried USB Mass Storage mode, Zadig + libusbK driver, but still stuck at “unknown device”.

My questions:

1. Has anyone successfully unlocked the language menu on the Japanese version RX100 M7? If yes, which tool version and precise steps did you use (Windows / Linux / macOS)?

2. If RX100 M7 is not supported by the current tools, is there a known workaround or newer method?

3. If I purchase a Mac (or use a Mac for the process), does anyone confirm that the tool works reliably on macOS for this model?

4. Are there any risks or precautions specific to RX100 M7 when performing the language unlock (e.g., bricking, firmware version rollback, loss of features)?

Thank you in advance for your help and sharing your experience.

Best regards,

Sony A5000: Sony A5000 keeps restarting when pressing shutter button

I bought a Sony A5000, second-hand in 2023, and it worked perfectly until about 3–4 months ago when a strange issue started, everything on the camera works fine (recording, dials, buttons, menus), but whenever I press the shutter button to take a photo, the camera restarts, and it usually takes 4–5 tries before it actually captures a picture. I’m wondering if this could be a motherboard problem or something else like the shutter assembly or power?
Also, can a weak or aging battery cause this kind of restart loop when the shutter activates, even if the camera powers on and records video fine?
