Sony Handycam HDR-CX580V: Why does my screen have a pink fuzzy/glitchiness to it

Hello everyone of ifixit! I have a Sony handycam hdr-cx580v and just as I was about to use it from purchasing from eBay, the whole screen had turn pink and the "bug"/internal memory icon keeps moving back and forth unable to read its own data it seems, the thing was shipped out via USPS so I wouldn't be surprised they banged it around (and the seller had poor packaging as it came with its original box) thought I have tried mostly everything from resetting it to removing the battery and leaving it alone for a good 10mins. The menu and settings stuff still works, but when I go to try to repair/format it's internal memory it doesn't allow me too. I did do a lot of research and it seems like it could be a worn ribbon cable from the screen to the motherboard to the Sensor

Update (07/02/26)

Loose Ribbon cable that effected the camera, full disassembly is required and inspection if you are getting "white noise"/a pink fuzzy screen on you Camcorder!

Sony Handycam CCD-TR424E: Sony CCD-TR424E Pal receives power but does not work.

Hi!

I am trying to revive an old Sony CCD-TR425E PAL camcorder, but it does not fully work.

Working symptoms:

The side-display works, but shows only battery readings / charging.

Able to charge the battery.

Able to eject the cassette compartment.

Able to perform aforementioned functions without the battery when connected to the power cord.

Able to perform aforementioned functions using the battery when not connected to the power cord.

So it has some semblance of life, but not enough to be operational.

Fig 1: Sony CCD-TR425E PAL camcorder side-display showing battery readings.

Non-working symptoms:

Cannot record / play a cassette.

Does not make any mechanical noises of attempting to play a cassette after insertion / attempted playback.

What I have done and checked:

Replaced the coin cell battery.

Replaced the main battery.

The external AC adapter / charger outputs the correct voltage (8.4 V).

The battery is receiving charge (charges to 8.2 V, within spec)

(Failed) Attempted to enter self-diagnostic mode.

(Failed) Attempted to play back / record from a cassette.

Current plan:

How should I continue troubleshooting this?

When reading on Reddit, some folks mention for similar models that it is common for a fuse to fail (without mentioning specifics). Looking at a similar question here on iFixit I found this QnA also mentioning a fuse.

So I found the <!--!

PS801 (BAT_UNREG)

PS802

PS803 (VTR_UNREG)

PS804

PS805 (may not exist on my model)

PS106

PS107

Fig 2: DD-117 schematic electrical diagram, p.84, particular fuses are in the area B-11 to C-13, marked orange in the figure.

I can confirm on p. 83 in pdf reader (page section 4-106 to 4-108) with the SMD overview that those are all the fuses on the power board.

Is my next step to disassemble the camcorder and use my multimeter to test all the fuses?
I will also look around for any obvious damaged / burnt components too during disassembly.
Is there anything I should do before I disassemble the camcorder?
Is there anything else I should do when dismantling the camcorder, besides testing the the fuses?

Thanks in advance,
Cheers.

Sony Handycam CCD-TR5: Problem with cables to capture device

Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum.

I have a capture device to transfer tapes to digital, but I'm having a problem with the cables. The camcorder has a black and yellow cable, which the capture device also has. The problem is that the black cable for capture device isn't the same as the black for the camera, seen in the photos. Is there any cable I could buy to link these together?

Sony Camcorder: No sound on playback - DCR-TRV330

At first the I just had a blue screen when trying to play my tapes. I disassembled the camcorder, reseated the ribbon cables and thoroughly cleaned the heads. I now have a picture but no sounds. I've connected the camcorder to a Mac with an IEEE1394 cable and can see the picture but no sound there either.

Is there a particular cable I should be looking at? Is this still related to something with the heads?

Thanks,

Sony DCR-DVD 108: How do I adjust the laser power on the DVD?

So, my camcorder can on read DVD-R, Not DVD-RW. I had the exact same model a few years ago that wrote the video to those discs, and the discs are fine because they read to my computer. Also, I have checked that the spindle, laser carrige assembly and laser are working. Also, a the CD-R mentionined above worked fine on my computer, but needed cleaning to work on the camcorder, which leads me to beileve that the laser is weak, Also just curious, what is the difference between DVD-108 and DVD 108E. Both of mine are just 108
