Sony CPF-IP001: Why is my speaker making a weird noise?

When I try to play music, the speakers make a buzzing noise. It does this both when using an iPod and when using the auxiliary cord. What should I do to fix this?

When I plug my iPod in, an error message pops up on the screen and I can't get the iPod to play music. I made sure nothing was blocking the port and I tried turning my iPod and my speaker on and off, but it didn't help. What should I do next?

My speakers work fine, but when I try to use the remote to change the volume or turn off the speaker, nothing happens.
