Sony CMT-CPX1: Sony CMT-CPX1 – Tuning knob issue (frequency keeps changing)

Hello,

I’m having an issue with the tuning knob on my Sony CMT-CPX1.

When I move the tuning button up, the frequency decreases as expected. However, when I return it to the neutral position, the frequency keeps increasing on its own.

The same thing happens when increasing the frequency — once I put the knob back to neutral, it keeps changing instead of stopping.

Has anyone experienced this issue or knows what could be causing it?

Thank you for your help.

Greetings from Belgium.

Sony Radio CD player and cassette player CFD-S05: Speakers No Longer Working: Any Glaringly Obvious Issues?

This is my first time self-servicing any of my electronics on this level. The tape and CD players both work, but no sound comes out. Got the thing open enough to take a look at the circuitboard, but wanted to see if maybe there's something clearly wrong for me to start at before I go wild goose hunting for my problem?

The unit is not currently working. I do not have the original battery pack or a 9V power adapter required for this model. I only have a 12V charger, which I did not use to test it to avoid potential damage. I opened the unit and found no visible issues inside—no corrosion, loose wires, or obvious broken components.

Sony Radio CD player and cassette player CFD-S05: The speakers no longer produce any sound

I have this problem too. It was purchased in late 2012. Has less than 30 hours play time on it. Has not been mistreated or even rarely moved around. Played fine in January 2022. Sat for a few months unused. In May the speakers no longer produce any sound. Power, CD, cassette, FM all work fine. No sound through headphone jack. Where is the IC amp (on the circuit board?) and what does it look like? Are there instructions on where to buy one and how to change it out? I see how to take the player apart on in internet but that's it. Help me Obwan, you're my only hope! In other words, it would cost more to send it out, pay to get it fixed and returned than the unit cost new originally.

HI all!! I have a SONY MICRO Hi-Fi Component Unit Model No CMT-CPX1, and when I turn the selector for the next track on the CD, the CD tray opens, as if I had pressed the eject button. The same thing happens, when i try to fast forward a tape. The selector, as you can see in the picture, has multiple functions, depending on the selected source. It is like pressing 2 buttons at the same time. What could be the problem and how it could be repaired?

Sony CD Player: sony CMT-EH26 can do everything but read cds

I have this old sony micro hi-fi component system CMT-EH26, it has been stuck in the shed for a year and before then it could play cds just fine, but now when ive been able to take it out and clean it (it was covered in very fine sawdust) it can do all of the usuall functions but read cds. so, the remote works, tape player works (havent tried recorder yet) audio in works with my phone, radio, ect

but basically whenever i put in the disc (label up) it starts reading, then tells me theres no disc inside. ofc its a problem with the laser but idk how to fix it, or replace it because i cant find what model/type the laser is.

i do not plan to fix it myself, i only want to know how expensive the laser will be to replace so i know no technician is scamming me (the techs in my area have a very bad reputation, i dont think every technician does this and i do not mind paying well for their labour but, i dont trust it yk) so ill get the technician to both replace the laser and clean the inside because i dont trust myself either.

also its my first time using this website and i do not know how to add different models so i think its an only admin/mod thing so if someone could also add the CMT-EH26 model to the list, it would be great for not only me but other people 👍

thank you so much for reading, hope you have a good one today :3

Sony CD Walkman D-NF430: Sony D-NF430 turning itself off before reading the disk

I tried to replace the laser assembly from a donor machine because my main CD player started skipping and stuttering despite the CD and the laser seeming pristine. The donor is a much better taken care of machine with sound issues so I assumed using that ones laser assembly on the older one would be fine.

I get the new laser assembly into the older CD player.

It spins up and the screen cycles the Walkman logo, But right as, or just before, it starts reading the files, it shuts down and stops spinning the disk. It does this with both the new and old laser assembly.

I've checked to make sure all the connections were clean and firm, none of the ribbons or wires are pinched or exposed as far as I can tell, the laser on both assemblies are, at least to the naked eye, perfectly fine, I've put in new batteries, and I've checked multiple CD's that I know should play, only to be met with the same result.

Sony CD Walkman D-NF430: Why are the buttons on my D-NF4530 CD Walkman suddenly not working?

I've had this walkman for at least a year, using it off and on, but only recently started "daily driving" it for work.

It worked fine for a few weeks, but suddenly the buttons don't work. The buttons will click, but nothing happens.

I handle heavy items and get jostled a bit at work, so I assumed it was a loose ribbon or dirty button contacts and best, or a broken control board at worst.

The ribbon seems fine, not loose or pinched or anything.

The button contacts were dirty, but that wasn't the problem.

The board, as far as my limited knowledge can tell, isn't broken in a way I can see.
