Sony α6000: Sony A6000 is not working properly all of a sudden

Hi

I have an A6000 camera that suddenly is acting very strange. It will not allow me to make any adjustments in Apeture, Shuttter priority or Manual modes. Neither will it let me access the menu or even see pics already taken. I am at a loss at why this has happened as it has not been dropped or handled aggressively. I used it briefly on Monday and then on Tuesday evening the problems arose. I don't know what to do or where to go for help. I have been using your tutorials to learn how to use the camera so I decided to reach out for help. I have not down loaded any apps as I don't know how to do that nor have I updated any firmware. Oh I should mention in the auto mode like SCN or Intellegent plus it does take pictures although there is a slight delay or stickiness when shooting. I have been looking for a reset button to see if resetting would help but I have not been able to find one. So I am really at a loss on what to do next. (ps I live in Ghana so Incannot call Donys toll free number from here.

Keeping my fingers crossed you can help,

Karen

Sony α6000: How to hard reset a6000? EVF broken and camera was set to EVF only.

How to hard reset a6000, EVF broken and camera was set to EVF only. It was an incredibly dumb mistake.

I have tried to follow the menu reset button pattern on youtube videos but having no luck at all. If anyone could confirm that would be great.

It seems Sony didn’t make a physical reset switch!?

Hi,

I tried to replace A6000's Flash myself.

I prepared the replacement part and opened the case successfully.

However, I figured out that the problem is that the connector is detached from

the firm, not the flash part itself.

is there any method I can attach this connector to the film again?

Sony α6000: firmware upgrade crashes camera

during a firmware upgrade from v3.2 to v3.21 the process quit with an error message that it could not continue. I am left with an unresponsive camera. The “Access Light” on the bottom of the camera is continually lit as long as there is a battery loaded.

I tried Sony’s suggested reset: “Remove battery, turn on, hold down the “firing” button for 30 seconds and release.” I get no change. I also tried Sony’s suggestions of re-launching the process (multiple times) with no change. I move the attempts from my Mac laptop to a Dell desktop running Windows 10 with no change. I have tried removing the memory card, installing a new memory card, installing without any memory card: no change.

Sony α6000: How to fix dropped camera with stuck lens?

Sony α6000: What's the best way to clean battery contacts with a Sony a6000?

Today I got a “for parts” off ebay and the seller stated that when he put in a Sony battery it would display: Batterie incompatible. Utiliser le mobèle correct. Then promptly turn off. I thought it might be an easy fix since I have had an issue with a few batteries I got off Amazon a few years ago. Neither battery would work in my nex-3n at the time. I looked up the issue with the batteries and found the identical batteries on a thread where fake batteries on dpreview:

UPDATE on fake Sony NP-FW50 battery

With the “for parts” camera it doesn’t matter what working battery I put into it (Sony or Wasabi), it still displays the same incompatibility message. I have looked into this issue and what I have found out is that there’s a bad connection between the battery and battery contacts:

The CHARGE light on the battery charger flashes when charging the battery pack.

Cleaning battery/camera contacts and connectors etc.

I tried to clean the contacts with a dry paint brush and using same paint brush with rubbing alcohol and no matter what the camera still displays the same message. I have also thought of using a pencil eraser I have wondered if I have to replace the battery contacts, so I looked to find a take apart which I found on youtube:

Sony A6000 Disassembly

Which shows what I may have to do to replace the battery contacts if I’m unsuccessful with cleaning the battery contacts.

Took it apart reseated everything then to no power on. Replaced the main board camera powered on completely fine except the screen did not work and the sad card didn’t work. I used it as a webcam so it didn’t bother me. Well I tackled the camera again today and took it apart re assembled it again display came back but had weird distortion still as cars reader was no good. Reseated that cable and now the camera is no power on. Has anyone run into this before? I don’t really feel like getting another board for this camera but will if I must or if there are any common shorts on the board to check for since I now have 2 boards that both do not power on.
