Samsung Galaxy Ring: Thoughts on repairs process after today.

Its not a question, but after stumbling across your teardown today looking for some answers, id like to post this so others are aware. If its not allowed, I apologise, and im also now aware that where I wrote "60%", it should have been "40%".

So if anyone has any other thoughts on this (it was an email sent to tmtfirst - the official samsung repair provider), then I would be happy to listen.

Good afternoon,

I am writing about the above service number which will now be on it's way back to me, after I rejected the repair cost that you quoted.

On Saturday, 15th November, I sent you in a Samsung ring to be checked over, which was collected on that day, despite asking for a Monday collection - with this, I had to come back home early whilst meeting someone and changing my plans because of it.

Upon your receipt yesterday, you told me I then had to pay £30 to get it reviewed, which I paid, despite knowing that you would most probably come back with some exorbitant price for repair.

Following that, today I received a quote of a further £414 to fix the ring; which quite frankly is ridiculous for the following reasons:

On the official Samsung site, it is £299 currently to buy a new one.

On the EE website, it is £249 currently to buy a new one.

In iFixit.de's teardown of the ring ( Samsung’s Galaxy Ring Revealed - iFixit ) , it states that you should get up to 2 years use out of it, which wasn't really specified to begin with - had I known it was "e-waste", I would never have bought it in the first place. I bought the item before the teardowns were on the internet, and was never clearly shown that this would be the case.

With this in mind, it seems to me that at very least your "repair service" for the samsung ring is something of a scam, if not the whole product - you have deliberately charged me £30 to look at something that you know is frankly unrepairable, and then had the audacity to try and charge me £414 more to basically send a new item out under the guise of it being repaired, that currently you can purchase for 60% less.

Can you therefore understand my conclusion that I should be entitled to some form of compensation at very least because of the £30 charged for something that you as a company know could not be done, and again potentially for making me change my plans on Saturday, for a collection that I specifically asked for on another day?

Please respond to this email within 1 week (5 working days), or this information will be forwarded to my local MP for further scrutiny.

Thank you in advance.

Oura Ring 2: What would be a nice way to repair the surface?

My ring fell to the ground when I removed my gloves and thus it got some scratches. While there were almost imperceptible at the beginning, after a few days it got worse (because I am continuously touching the ring). May I use any varnish to cover the scratch to protect it? Can you recommend me something to repair it?

Thanks
