Dreamcast VMU: When back of VMU is squeezed or pressed slightly the VMU will reset

I have 2 VMUs that will reset (aka long beep and ask for date and time) when you even slightly squeeze it. By squeeze I mean just grabbing it to pick it up, holding it in player grip, or putting it away somewhere like a pocket. Additionally, it will sometimes reset just by lying it on its back on a table or desk. I'm not sure if there is a misalignment with the prongs or what. I have brand new batteries in all of them and backing is screwed snuggly and secured.

Sega Nomad: Sega Genesis Nomad Repair Issue

I'm repairing a Sega Genesis Nomad. I've replaced the capacitors, and installed an RGBDRV and an IPS LCD.

However, the screen remains a blue screen, and the sound is just noise-like.

I've re-soldered and checked various parts, and I think 5V is reaching each section. I've also cleaned the cartridge slot.

The 68k CPU isn't heating up, so I replaced the CPU and RAM, but it's still not heating up. Voltage is coming through.

I feel like the problem might be somewhere else... Since 5V is present, I don't think it's the common regulator failure...

Does anyone know where I should check next?

Thanks.

Sega Saturn: CD door clip switch will not remain in contact

Hi, The CD drive door on my model 1 Saturn has a 'tower' type door switch. The plastic tray lid presses a micro-switch against a contact plate when the lid is in the closed position. This is no longer happening. I have tried taping the micro swith and contact plate together, this works for a little while until the microswitch eventually moves off the contact plate and the door reads as open again, particularly annoying when you are in the middle of a playing session. Any methods for the best way to repair this? Can the switch be bypassed altogether? thank

Sega Genesis: Sega Genesis Model 1 VA7 No Picture and Singing the Song of Its People

So I have a Model 1 VA7 Genesis that does not display anything and plays a haunting melody of games long played, which are played no more. See video to be moved, emotionally, and digestively.

Oh, and sometimes it doesn't always give the black screen with the sound. Sometimes when I turn it off, I get no signal but the led does come on. In that instance, I have to turn it off and back on again, and then I get the black screen and screeching.

<ins>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXAlmeUu...</ins>

What I've tried:

Checked IC11 near the video and power ports to see if VCC1 and VCC2 were getting 5v. They were.

Checked the voltage regulator to see if it was outputting 5V. It WAS NOT, so I changed it with a new 7805 and now it is outputting 5v. Still no change though. :(

Checked continuity between the cartridge slot pins and the pins where it's connected to the board. All pins appear to be connected. Reflowed pins just to be safe and rechecked. Same issue.

Reflowed all the pints on the video output and power connector, no change.

Pumped the video out signal from IC11 directly into video cable just to see if that would tell me anything. No change.

Checked a few caps near the video output, they all seem within spec more or less.

Tried multiple power supplies that I use with other model 1s with no issue. No change.

Next, I plan on checking the rest of the chips to ensure they're getting the power they need. I'll also be checking all the traces from to chips to where they go when I feel like I need something boring and tedious to do. But in the meantime...any thoughts?

Sega Game Gear: Is my game gear power adapter inner positive or inner negative?

I’ve used this Genesis on this same tv about 2 years ago using the rf unit with no issues. I wanted to see if my daughter would be interested so got it out again but the video was mostly static.
Sega Master System: Fixing a Sega Master System game

Hello,

I been trying to get a Sega Master System game to work called R-type. Unfortunately I haven't had any success and believe that its the chips itself having problems. I then discovered a video on youtube based on fixing Sega Genesis games that testing pins of the chip using the diode mode on a multimeter, from ground to the pin, and if I had one pin from the chip that doesn't allow any current, to solder a 1k resistor to complete the circuit from the pin and ground. I tested that on a genesis game that had the same problem, and it works!

Video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCT4ZKV2...

My question is, is that possible to do the same technique with a Sega master system game? If so, what resistor should I use?
