Sega Dreamcast: Dreamcast powers on, freezes at the date and time scren

I only am able to catch the end of the Dreamcast logo startup and sound and then the date and time logo appears to be completely frozen, nothing blinking as I usually remember it.

I took apart My model 1 to clean it up etc and while looking around I came across a spot where it looks like a trace was damaged. I’ll post pics of the top and bottom of the board so you can see. The spot in question is circled in red.

So I somehow found a post on sega-16 about a genesis with a resistor on the bottom with a cut trace, exactly like mine. I'm starting to think this was just some factory "fix" or "repair" rather than a mod. Second post has a working image link which shows the same kind of resistor on the same spot with the trace cut.

Sega Dreamcast: After disassembling my dreamcast the AV OUT port doesn’t output...

After disassembling ( and re-assembling) my sega dreamcast the AV OUT port doesn’t output any video or sound, the system turns on and the disk drive spins but the vmu also doesn’t seem to indicate the console working, I don’t know if this is a problem with the consoles output or actual bios. Any ideas or ways to check what’s broken / How to fix it?

Hello there, I recently purchased a Game gear as it came with an adapter plug, at first when I tested it, it works as the power came on and the screen lighted (as well as the back light), but when I place a game in it, it still was the same screen as before, no sound, no animated screen, I was wondering if it was the device or the cartarage.

Sega Master System: Why is my output an incorrect display color?

Why would my console display a green output color where there should be white? The result is the same weather using the RF port or the composite ports and I noted the saturation will change from time to time but never to the point that it is the proper white output.

Dreamcast VMU: When back of VMU is squeezed or pressed slightly the VMU will reset

I have 2 VMUs that will reset (aka long beep and ask for date and time) when you even slightly squeeze it. By squeeze I mean just grabbing it to pick it up, holding it in player grip, or putting it away somewhere like a pocket. Additionally, it will sometimes reset just by lying it on its back on a table or desk. I'm not sure if there is a misalignment with the prongs or what. I have brand new batteries in all of them and backing is screwed snuggly and secured.

Just received a new (to me) Game-gear and 12 games in the mail… The Game-gear looked to be in good working order and was obviously well cared for. I dropped in 6 fresh AA’s, and slapped in the Mortal Kombat cartridge… powered it up and played 4 rounds before it reset. I tried a different game, Batman Forever, and had the same result as soon as I reached the 3rd level. My Question is: Is this a Game-gear issue, cartridge issue, or just common bad luck with cartridge games?

Sega Nomad: Sega Genesis Nomad Repair Issue

I'm repairing a Sega Genesis Nomad. I've replaced the capacitors, and installed an RGBDRV and an IPS LCD.

However, the screen remains a blue screen, and the sound is just noise-like.

I've re-soldered and checked various parts, and I think 5V is reaching each section. I've also cleaned the cartridge slot.

The 68k CPU isn't heating up, so I replaced the CPU and RAM, but it's still not heating up. Voltage is coming through.

I feel like the problem might be somewhere else... Since 5V is present, I don't think it's the common regulator failure...

Does anyone know where I should check next?

Sega Saturn: Not reading CDs / playing

I have a model 1 Saturn which I bought as untested. I found it would not read CDs or spin. I bought a new untested drive that spins but won't read CDs. Bought another drive which was advertised as fully working but still have the same issue.

I have also fitted a new laser but again same issue.

I am starting to think the issue is with the door lid open close switch. It seems to operate correctly I e. Spin when lid closed and stop when lid is opened. However the Saturn never displays drive door open or drive empty. I assume it should?

Anyone else have this issue and found a solution?

Sega Genesis: Model 2 wont load game, powers on to license screen then nothing

What should I check next for a model 2 not loading game past licensing screen? Voltage regulator good. The board has been looked over for corrosion and none. The power and av ports have been reflowed. The cartridge slot has been cleaned. The games being used on this system work on another system fine.

Sega Game Gear: White horizontal line with black screen but sometimes has audio.

Hello all,

Just found my old Game Gear and games but when I turn it on I see a white line (sometimes 3) going horizontally across the screen. I cleaned the cartridge and port in the console where the carts go and I was able to hear the game playing but the white line was still there with a black screen. The backlight works but idk if its my screen that I need to replace along with all the capacitors.

Do you guys have any recommendations on what I should get to replace all the capacitors and any suggestions on a replacement LCD for it?

Sega Game Gear: fix voltages on power board

Just recapped my Game Gear. It worked fine for a while but stopped. I think I may have accidentally blew something on the power board when I was testing voltages. The power LED comes on, but no screen. I worked out that the two 5V voltage pins are now giving readings close to the battery input voltage, and the 34V pin seems to be giving 34V on power up, but that drops to around the battery input voltage after 10 or so seconds.

Which component should I look to replace? I have the schematic, but very little experience of electronics.

With power cord or batteries when I switch on the screen briefly lights up and then shuts off about 2 seconds.

I bought this Game Gear years ago with the intention of modding it. But in order to buy an IPS screen kit for it, I need to know what version it is.

Also, whilst I've modded a load of Game Boy DMG-01's, I've never done a Game Gear before, so suggestions for the best mods to do would be much appreciated.
