Hello:

I have received a Sega CD Model 1, and it looks as though there was an attempt at capacitor replacement previously. C47's entire top of board area has been decimated; no trace exists, let alone the pads for the SMD. However, I am not confident in my ability to pinpoint where (if anywhere) the cap could be bridged on the back of the board.

Does anyone know if this is possible, or is this board simply shot?

Thank you!!

Sega CD: Damaged connection PCB between Sega CD and Genesis

I have a Sega CD with a damaged connection board between Sega CD and Genesis. I know because I exchanged it with another and it worked perfectly. The thing is that everything looks good and there is continuity in all the pins, so I am thinking that it could be the electronic components of it. I have the values of almost all the components on the board but the maintenance manual does not have the value of the capacitor C21, does anyone have any idea what value this is? It would also help me to know what size capacitors should be since the manual does not specify this either.

Sega CD: Freezes at bios screen

I have a sega cd model 1 (bios 1.10). The sega cd will turn on, but freezes at the bios screen. The lights on it never flash or turn on. However if you leave it for 5 secs then disconnect the power form the sega cd unit, the genesis will start playing music but nothing else happens. I already tried cleaning the connection contacts on both the genesis and the sega cd. Can anyone help?
