ScanSnap iX500: An error in the optical system

I have a ScanSnap iX500. I am getting a message from the ScanSnap manager which says, "An error in the optical system". I have tried all of the suggestions for resolving the issue which included cleaning the glass inside the scanner, and everything else that was suggested in the problem-solving suggestions. However, none were successful, and I am still unable to scan and keep getting above mentioned message. I am looking for a local repair shop in the Miami Florida area ZIP Code 33155 where I could take my scanner to be fixed. Can anyone suggest a repair shop.

Scanner: Using Lomo film slides on the V600 -- SilverFast 9

I have an Epson V600 I took a shot on as-is from eBay, with zero problems :-). However, I had to supply my own film slides and power adapter that was meant for the V600, but I already sorted this.

However, I did not get the film slides and the folks I asked about this generally tell me the same thing: Don't chase them down UNLESS I need them; they're not the best. Well, I threw them in the adapter order from Compass Micro to have them just in case (and to even out the shipping vs order cost at something like $10 each and $5 for the 35mm holder, which is not integrated on the V550/600 holder), and they feel flimsy to me. I bought a scanner that can do film well to do it right, not use cheap adapters.

Has anyone used these V600 scanners with the Lomo adapters, with SilverFast 9? Epson Scan 2 dropped the film support and gives out free SF8 licenses, which I took and converted to an SF9 license for Apple Silicon purposes because I am ready to move to a newer Mac.

On my ADF equipped scanner (Scanjet Pro 2500 f1), I was trying to scan this to make a replacement print due to some damage done to the original based on the original cover. However, I noticed this issue in VueScan so I thought it was a potential communication issue. The issue also occurs with a second USB cable, so it’s a hardware issue :/.

Is there any hope in regards to fixing this without a whole new scan head (which I have from a jamming 2500 f1, but the replacement is beyond my skillset and may re-introduce the problem), or is the unit toast and it’s time to get an Epson ADF scanner? The issue with the modern HP scanners for me is they moved away from the quality they were known for in the late 2000’s, to these newer 2010’s era ones which are nowhere near as well built as the old ones. Keeping the old ones in service forever is not sustainable due to the CCFL tubes eventually going out in 100% of them, especially as they rack up operating hours.

Scanner: Is the CanoScan LiDE 210 known to work in MacOS Monterey?

As I look into the new MBP, I have to evaluate my devices and see what will and will not make it, but what might. When I checked my scanners out, I have a few but one of them was acquired some time ago before I switched to Epson for high resolution flatbeds: CanoScan LiDE 210 - so old, it uses Mini-USB!

I have evaluated my Epson scanners, and the situation is not dire - my V39 is good to go, the V33 has a full driver, and the V300 has an ICSA Image Capture driver (fine by me, but I want to get a V600 in the long term). If anything, Epson has done the best job at figuring this out.

At the moment, Canon does not have a MacOS 12 entry on their site, but they have 15.x drivers. Has anyone gotten these LiDE 210 scanners working, or is it a goner with Montere? If it’s a goner, I’m not worried as I have better units anyway and I have the V39. Epson has never given me a reason to fault their scanning performance - always been happy with the results, with the V39 being the best of the cheap standalone bunch out there today.

EDIT: Canon is borderline useless on the matter :/. No clear answer, no phone help left yet the LiDE 210 is still actively on the market. WTF Canon? TAKE IT OFF THE MARKET IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO SUPPORT YOUR PRODUCTS!

Pacific Image Electronics CS3600: How can I get replacement parts for the interior slide mechanisms?

I have 2 units, a 3650, and a 5000. The 3650 runs and ejects continuously without stopping to scan, and the 5000 jammed due to a broken tab on a plastic stop/catch which I am including a photo of in this message. After opening both cases, I realized they are mechanically identical, and so I borrowed the non-broken catch from the 3650, and replaced the one on the 5000. It now works perfectly again, but it would be great to get a replacement part, and possibly either a new motherboard for the 3650, or a suitable replacement. The problem is, I can’t find ANYWHERE to buy any of these items. Can you help?

CanoScan LIDE 90: Problem Code 2,179,10 Release Lock Switch on CanoScan LIDE 120

I accidentally dropped my CanoScan LIDE 120. Now it keeps showing error code 2,179,10

. It is NOT a simple problem of moving the lock switch. I moved the switch back and forth many times. I think the black plastic rod with teeth may have been bent. I open the glass and bend the rod but still receive the code. Any idea to help? Thank you.

Scanner: (Epson Perfection 3590 Photo) Random CMY "speckles" throughout scans.

I bought an Epson Perfection 3590 Photo scanner about 12 years ago and I adore it. It has served me exceptionally well over the years and has never had a problem — until now. Any time I scan something I get a random array of speckles all over my image. See attached images; one shows the entire scanner platen with nothing on it, the other is an enlargement of a section of the first image. The speckles you see are entirely random; if I make the same scan three times in a row, the speckles appear in random locations.

Zooming in on the speckles shows spots them to be cyan/magenta/yellow bars. I'm thinking this is being caused by a bad CCD?

I've eliminated software issues, bad USB cable, and bad power supply from the equation. It is the original lamp. Problem is, the nearest Epson repair facility is a two hour (at best) drive away from me and they've quoted me an absolutely ridiculous price to repair it.

Am I right in assuming it's a bad CCD?

How would I go about repairing this?
