Samsung SyncMaster 2443: Broken CCFL. Way to repair it? Is a LED backlight upgrade possible?

I got a Samsung SyncMaster 2443BW 24" monitor which has some problems. Basically it shows the picture 2 seconds after powering it on and then goes black. The repair service said that CCFLs are the problem and that a repair is expensive.

Is it possible to replace the CCFL with ones that are bought online or elsewhere? Also, I saw that there is a way of upgrading the backlight to LED backlight. Prices on ebay for LED backlight upgrade kits are acceptable, but is it possible to upgrade this monitor?

Thanks for any information.
