Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook: About to replace the RAM SO-DIMM, what is the special film over it?

Hi, I am going to upgrade this laptop's SO-DIMM module. Following the great guide for it, I found my device has some kind of special "film" over the old module. It is about 0.5mm thick or less, gray colored and seems to be metallic (magnets attract it). It is very damaged though and breaks easily (see picture).

The user manual states: "For some models, a special film is attached onto the memory module to enhance the wireless LAN performance. When you replace the memory module, make sure that you do not remove the film". The picture in the user manual shows a different kind of film by the way...

Do you know if it is really important to keep it? Given its bad state it seems very difficult. I would like to buy a new one and put it just in case, but I don't know what it is called / how to shop for it. Can anyone give me advice for this? Thanks!

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook: Help, can't install an OS

So here’s what happened, I tried to install Ubuntu onto my laptop and when I restarted it, well it didn’t detect any OS anymore despite me leaving the USB inside. (It was originally a windows 10)

Now whatever I do, it doesn’t detect any USB input, let it be a USB keyboard, mouse or drive. The only thing I have access to is my BIOS.

It doesn’t seem like my laptop still has an OS and it refuses to do anything else.

Letting it boot normally gives me:

“All boot options are tried. Press F4 key to recover with factory image using Recovery…“

After pressing F4, well it doesn’t detect anything and goes on it’s merry way back to the afore mentioned quote.

Thanks is advance!

Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook: How to do system image of disk that's going bad to new disk?

The hard drive in my Samsung is starting to make weird noises. I want to do a system image (or somethign similar) of this disk, buy a new disk drive (any suggestions for a good disk drive are welcome), and then install the new disk and copy everything over to the new disk. . I am hoping this process will help me not having to install windows and other softwares all over again. I would appreciate any and all guidance. Thank you
