Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: Water stopped getting dispensed from refrigerator, all of a sudden :(

Samsung - 29.0 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Stainless-Steel

Bought this refrigerator couple years back. All is good, until a few hours ago... as water stopped coming out of the dispenser. Recently (about a month ago) changed the water filter (used Samsumg filter) and all was well until today.

- Note that water stopped coming out all of a sudden. My wife used it a few minutes ago to get some water... but now no more water comes out of the dispenser.

- When I remove the filter, water is getting dispensed at good speed, but when I put back the filter (the same that I was using the last 30 days), water stops.

- I bought a different filter and see the same result. Not even sputtering (the thing that usually happens the first few minutes when a new filter gets inserted)... it's like blank.. no water at all.

- Can hear the humming sound when the dispenser gets clicked.

- No leakage.

- All the other lights on the control panel are glowing.

- Emptied ice bucket and see that new ice is being made.

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: No water or ice

Hi,

I bought a house with a Samsung RF42887HARS french door fridge and it’s not dispensing water or ice. When pressing the buttons for water or ice you hear the button click but that’s it. I recall owing a Samsung side-by-side fridge and when pressing the buttons I should hear motor running from the ice maker or a humm from the water solenoid.

I tried defrosting, replacing the water filter, and checking rear bottom right solenoid after looking at some troubleshooting instructions on Youtube. The solenoid appears to be fine. I guess the only thing left is the solenoid behind the water filter but could it cause the ice maker not to run dispense motor or could it be the dispense buttons?

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: Freezer Fan Icing Up

Samsung Refrigerator model RF4287HARS. At first the ice maker stopped working, I tried resetting then just replaced it. That didn’t do anything so I just gave up on ice and still had water. Then about a month later a loud noise started from the freezer fan. I left it go and 2 months later food started defrosting and at the same time a terrible moldy oder appeared that I could not get rid of. At the time I assumed it was the compressor so I bought a new fridge and stuck this one downstairs. After a few weeks of it airing and draining out (lots of water drained out), I decided to plug it back in. Oder and noise was gone and it worked fine for 4 months with no water hooked up. Now I’m back to ice around the fan with insufficient freezing and the noise. Does anyone know what the fix is other then defrosting it again? I’m not willing to put more the $500 into this, it may be going to the curb soon.

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: Owl noise and not dropping ice.

I have a Samsung RF4287hars refrigerator. About 1 year ago the it stopped dispensing cube ice, only crushed ice. It appeared the plunger was in the crush position and won’t go to the up position. I put a spacer to keep it in the up position and was able to get cubed ice. About a week ago we started hearing a whoop sound (like an owl who) and it stopped making ice. Using the test switch didn’t seam to do anything. When you hold a glass up to get ice the ice auger does turn.

I took the ice maker out and it was full of ice, just not dropping the cubes. I’m guessing it’s the auger motor, but may be the ice maker. Is there any way to tell? What is your opinion. Both parts are pricey and I would hate to order the wrong part. Doing some reading it looks Samsung auger motor has been a problem.

Thanks for you help.

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: Samsung Freezer not freezing (French door) RF4287HARS/XAA

So we were actually given this fridge since it stopped working as a project, the freezer does not work, sometimes it'll freeze but it takes a very very very long time to freeze (About 3 days to fully freeze something) so I believe it does get below freezing temps

however I believe it might be the display because the display says the temps are right and then about an hour later they say it's -8 when it's only 38*F inside the freezer.

Components Replaced:

Compressor (It leaked refrigerant when we got it, and then the motor locked up so we had it replaced) We didn't replace it someone else did, we have a friend who works in hvac and does fridge repairs

Temp Sensors in the freezer (Both the defrost temp sensor & the regular freezer temp sensors in the ceiling)

Main PCB (Bit of a story I bought a remanned one from amazon replaced it, but the freezer stopped freezing entirely... like even after 6 to 8 hours it was still at room temp.)

I'm more leaning towards the Main PCB (See the comment above as to why if it freezes before on the old pcb but takes 6 to 8 hours but the remanned board doesn't) my real question is do I buy the bullet and get a new pcb from a supplier or do I buy that control panel with the temp display on it that keeps redirecting to the auto set temp after an hour when the freezer still sits at 38*F

or is there something else I'm missing?

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: Fridge not getting to set temperature

Hi, I have a Samsung model rf4287hsrs. I recently noticed the fridge temp is not getting to the set point. I had it set to 34 degrees and the temp sensor built into the fridge says 34 degrees. However when I check the temp of milk and food from the fridge they are at 40 degrees. So I put temp sensor on each shelf. Top shelf is 44 deg, middle is 41 and Bottom is 38. Could the temp sensor developed a bias?

Replaced ice dispensing switch. Still no ice. I see there is nothing to depress the button on the bottom of the new switch. Am I missing a lever ? If I depres the button manually I hear the ice dispenser trying to work. But nothing close to the button.

Samsung RF4287HARS. Ice dispenser stopped producing any ice. Replaced ice dispensing switch. I see there is nothing to depress the button on the new switch. If I manually depress it, I hear the ice maker trying to do something. I see a hole that looks like something should come in from the lever to the switch but there isn't anything. What am I missing??

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: New water filter will not lock into place?

I’ve tried a few different brands, I have bought the exact same filter that was in the fridge previously now and it still will not lock into place. The filter just makes a quarter turn and springs back. I’m not sure what this issue is, my only thought is the locking mechanism is messed up and I need to replace the whole assembly, is there a way to avoid this?

Samsung Refrigerator RF4287HA: External condensation on back of case (French Door Fridge)

Condensation is forming on the back wall of our 2011 French Door fridge, model RF4287HARS caused by a cold spot (38F) on the back wall. Don't know when it started but I found that this happens when I fixed the internal icing issues arising when the mullion (flap) on the left hand door stopped sealing.

The cold spot causing the exterior condensation appears to be located behind the deli tray which is not accessible by removing the Twin Cooler cover.

Installed horseshoe clip to adjust the door and cleaned the drip pan, cooling coils and end of drain lines. Interior icing continued so I removed the cover and found an ice jam in the evaporator pan and drain. Melted ice with hot water, verified that the pan drained down to the drip pan and restarted fridge.

Condensation was not fixed. However, the temperature at the spot was somewhat warmer.

Samsung suggested an 8-hour manual defrost which did not fix the exterior condensation problem.

Unless this has been going on unobserved for the past 10 years, I assume that a block of ice either shifted components or damaged insulation.

Any suggestions?
