Samsung Refrigerator RF261BEAE: Ice Maker Stopped Dumping Ice

I have a 2.5 yo Samsung RF261BEAEBC/AA french door refrigerator. The icemaker has suddenly stopped dumping ice. The temperature is set to 2 degrees and the icemaker button is 'On'. When the reset button is pressed, the motor kicks in, the perfectly formed ice drops and the tray refills.

I've replace the water filter and the icemaker module, all to no avail. I've turned everything off, then back on. I'm not sure what to try next. Any help out there?

Samsung Refrigerator - RF28HDEDT: Ice Build-Up in Back Wall

We have a Samsung french-door, twin cooling refrigerator (RF28HDEDT model) that has ice build up in the back wall of the refrigerator. Fan noise is our first clue to the ice build up, and with a lot of online research I’ve learned how to remove the shelves, pull the back panel, and defrost the ice build up on my own…often in less than an an hour. We live in Wisconsin, and during the dry winter months I seem to get more longevity out of the fix…but when the humidity rises in the summer we are now opening up the back panel every 4-6 weeks to defrost the ice build up with a steamer.

About a year ago we had a Samsung tech out to our home and he replaced the heating element that runs along the sides/bottom…parts and labor ~$200. As you can see from the attached picture, the bottom portion seems just fine, so it’s not the drain jamming up, for which I’ve seen some parts that can be bought to conduct more heat to the drain hole. Something is happening to quickly accumulate ice in the upper portion…assuming it’s a leak of sorts? The noise is starting to brew again today, so this week I will be back into the fridge for a defrost…any recommendations for a more permanent solve? Thoughts on a copper wire wrapped around the heating element and extended to the upper portion to conduct some heat up there to avoid the ice build up? Sorry if this is a naïve question, but is low freon a potential issue here? If so, how to diagnose and/or recharge?

The fridge works fine otherwise…some freezing of the upper ice maker a few times a year…but general cooling is working…so I’m hopeful that there’s a simple MacGyver fix here that will keep me from clearing the contents of the fridge and defrosting every 4-6 weeks in the summer months. Thanks in advance for the help.

Update (05/24/2021)

As an update, we are experiencing the re-occurrence of fan noise routinely around every 4-5 weeks...I'm getting rather swift with the removal of contents/shelves from the fridge and hair-dryer defrost of the back wall...can usually have all put back together within 40-60 minutes. Build-up seems faster in the summer months where the humidity is higher here in WI...it gets dry in the winters and I'm expecting that we can go months if I can gut through the summer. With inspiration from the video linked below I've purchased an SH502 heater for ~$20 from Amazon and intend to install one of the next times we open up the unit...unless someone advises otherwise in this thread. Condensation is appearing quickly even while I defrost...so maybe a little caulk on the entry point near the top will be in order too.

Samsung Refrigerator - RF26J7500: Water dispenses but the ice maker does not make ice.

My Samsung side by side dispenses water but it will not make ice. The ice maker functions when you press the reset button but still will not make ice. I figured it just wasn’t getting water so I replaced the solenoid and still nothing. I see alot of replacing the filter but if the filter was clogged wouldn’t I not be getting water dispensed? Water line is not frozen because we had to shut it down to have the thermistor replaced at which the repair guy also said the ice maker was working. I’ll replace the ice maker before I call him back again. Any one have this same issue and know the solution?

Samsung - 29.0 Cu. Ft. French Door Refrigerator with Thru-the-Door Ice and Water - Stainless-Steel

Bought this refrigerator couple years back. All is good, until a few hours ago... as water stopped coming out of the dispenser. Recently (about a month ago) changed the water filter (used Samsumg filter) and all was well until today.

- Note that water stopped coming out all of a sudden. My wife used it a few minutes ago to get some water... but now no more water comes out of the dispenser.

- When I remove the filter, water is getting dispensed at good speed, but when I put back the filter (the same that I was using the last 30 days), water stops.

- I bought a different filter and see the same result. Not even sputtering (the thing that usually happens the first few minutes when a new filter gets inserted)... it's like blank.. no water at all.

- Can hear the humming sound when the dispenser gets clicked.

- No leakage.

- All the other lights on the control panel are glowing.

- Emptied ice bucket and see that new ice is being made.

Samsung Refrigerator RS25J500D: It makes ice, dumps into the bucket but will not dispense.

@ladytech …I’ve tried to find the answer on the many topics you’ve replied to first, but didn’t find one that exactly fit my needs. However, this one is the closest.I have a Samsung RS25J50 it’s a side by side with the ice maker in the top left corner of the freezer. It makes ice, dumps into the bucket regularly until full but will not dispense.

I’ve tried to reset, checked the arm for frozen ice, checked 100+ times to ensure it was put back into the freezer properly, and nada.

I’m typically a “pro” at fixing just about anything, including the “motherboard” on my former LG frig. So not being able to figure this one out has me extremely frustrated.

Any help/ advice would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Samsung Refrigerator - RF28JBEDB: Ice Maker Doesn't Stop When Bin is Full

I've had the ice buildup issue in the past and had the whole thing replaced (including the PCB). Since then no more buildup, but at some point after the repair, the ice maker stopped stopping when the bin is full. It will just run until there is basically a block of ice from the tray to the bin. I've never left it running to see how bad it will get, but I'm basically forced to run it for a short period and then turn it off or I will have to start breaking out ice to clear a path for it to drop. I've recently replaced the auger motor which has the sensor eye on it (at least that is what I assume it is for), but that didn't help either. I haven't replaced the bin yet, but now sure how that could make a difference. One thing I did notice when looking at the PCB, there is a 4 wire plug at the top that isn't connected to anything. I never looked at this prior to the replacement, so I'm not sure if this is by design.

Samsung Refrigerator - RF28HDEDB: My Samsung ice maker works, then doesn't, then works, then doesn't

My 4yr old Samsung RF28HDED refrigerator with ice-maker in upper left location just stopped making ice about 2 months ago. This is NOT the ice maker getting jammed and freezing into a block of ice issue. We did have that issue but that was addressed (y-clips installed, sealant at bottom of ice room, etc..). After the fix, had no problems for 9 months. Worked perfectly. Then one day no ice. Freezer temp = 0 degrees. Ice maker is ON. New Samsung water filter. Water dispenser works fine and I get almost 1.5 cups water in 10 secs. Bottom freezer working fine, no melting ice cream or anything. If I push the reset button on the ice maker, I hear the chime and about 10mins later, perfect ice cubes dump into the bucket, but that’s it, no more ice. I ran the status test (touch [freezer] + [refrigerator] buttons simultaneously ) and the indicator light for the ice bucket shows flashing (meaning that the fridge thinks the ice bucket is full). It is not full. Supposedly you are able to take a picture of the emitter with your cell phone and see the IR light. I did not see any light. So I replaced the auger motor that includes the IR emitter thinking it was defective. No change in ice production or status indicator (still blinking). Oddly, then about 2-3 weeks later, the fridge just started making ice and wouldn’t stop for 3 days. Just continually making ice. We had to keep dumping the ice bin. I checked the status indicator at that time and the light was not blinking. Continually on solid- meaning now the fridge thought the ice bucket was always empty even when it was overflowing. But then after 3 days… it just stopped making ice again and the status indicator changed to blinking again. So I replaced the PCB on the back of the fridge. Thought for sure this would do it. But again, no change in ice production and the status digit continues to blink. I hit the reset button on a daily basis and it obediently makes one tray of ice then quits. I am at a loss of what to do next… any help or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Samsung Refrigerator: Why is my freezer not freezing?

Hi everybody :)

I tried to find the why for more days now, and am now on my way to give up.

I have a RSH1DTMH american fridge-freezer, and have some problems on the freezer part, fridge working well after mooving the temperature sensor.

Freezer is not freezing, i can’t tell at what temerature it keeps, but certainly above 0°C because water put in stays a water.

I checked the temperature sensor with the ohm meter, and it seems OK, checked the defrost heater (manual forced defrost) - works well, and the fan inside the freezer - is OK.

I’m not sure where is the defrost thermostat, i see 2 pieces that looks similar to the thermostat I saw on some videos on youtube treating different fridges, but i’m not sure if it’s this and anyway seems more complicated to get out because the wires going out of it doesn’t go to one place.

What’s more when the fridge is turned on I can see that the freezer is trying to do something, because after few minutes you can see a lot of frost on one tube. The other thing is that temperature on the panel is getting lower to reach after a long time the temperature that I set so -19°C. It takes a long time, between half a day and one day, but finally it shows and stays at -19 but that’s not right, because the water put inside doesn’t even freeze.

Join some pictures to show what I’m trying to explain :)

Samsung Refrigerator - RF26J7500: Samsung Icemaker I/R Sensor Question

I have the Samsung French Door on top, Icemaker Upper left corner Freezer on the bottom, Model #RF26J7500SR refridgerator. The icemaker has always been a hassle, but at least it made ice. It no longer does so. I’ve tried everything but replacing the Icemaker/Auger Assembly/Control board. Right now it hasn’t made ice in almost 2 weeks. Not even in test mode (I hit the test button and hear the *DING-DING*, so I know the I/M is operational). I’ve defrosted it using the “Fd” forced defrost mode and steamer, so there is absolutely no ice buildup on anything. It simply won’t drop ice. I did remove the I/M and the auger assembly just to inspect them and make sure there was no icebuildup anywhere in the back of the ice room, and I did notice my auger assembly has a hairline crack in it. Could this possibly be the issue? Also, is the I/R sensor located on the auger assembly supposed to emit a visible beam? Because it does not. I’ve also checked my compressor and evaporator coils and they’re all clean. I have placed a thermometer in the ice room and it hovers around 10F degrees. I know it won’t drop ice until it reaches 9F, but my thermometer could be off. Although I do have the freezer temp set to -8F. Any suggestions? Based on everything I’ve read here about the disaster that is the Samsung Icemaker, I’m thinking I need to replace all the components, i.e., I/M, auger assembly and the control board. And do that epoxy thing to seal the ice room.

I have a 1.5 year old 5 door Samsung refrigerator freezer. All of a sudden it stopped making ice. Videos and questions say to remove the door and reset but I can't even get the door off to get at the reset button. Any suggestions.

Samsung Refrigerator RSG257AA: side by side samsung water dispenser will not stop shooting water

I have a Samsung rsg257aars side by side water dispenser will not stop dispensing. I heard that filter not sealing can cause this. I replaced the filter and it work fine for a few days then started again. I also tried a Samsung brand filter ($50 from Lowes) still no luck. I am thinking about replacing the filter housing next but I wanted to check here before shelling out another $70. It does the same thing without a filter.

More info. The ice dispenser works fine so that ruled out the microswitch. I even tested the microswitch separately with a meter. works perfect,

I look forward to hearing from some more experienced folks out there

Samsung Refrigerator: Fridge and freezer displaying wrong temp, not cooling

Samsung RF32CG5300SRAA 31.5 Cu. Ft. Mega Capacity Smart French Door Refrigerator

Both the freezer and fridge are going way out of temperature. When unplugged and immediately plugged back in, the control panel inside of the fridge will display the accurate ambient temperatures and both the fridge and freezer will proceed to attempt to cool to their set temperatures.

The control panel then seems to get "stuck" on those temps after a few hours and stops displaying temperature accurately / never fluctuates from the set temperature. The control panel will display the set temps at 34°F and -4°F, whilst a separate thermometer inside reads the fridge as being between 40-45°F and the freezer at 35-40°F.

Coils in the back are clean, compressor fan seems to kick on, and the evaporator fans are not frozen. Didn't see any error codes on the control panel and no blinking lights on the PCB. Seems unlikely that both temperature sensors would be faulty, right? Especially since the panel displays the correct temperature when the fridge is unplugged and plugged back in. What else should I be checking?
