Samsung NX2000: Why do my photos turn our grainy/noisy on the smart mode settings?

I have had my Samsung nx2000 for a few years now and have ALWAYS shot on the smart mode, rich tone. Regardless of time, sunlight, and any other weather scenario my photos have turned out amazing. Recently we went on a trip to Thailand and as always I used the rich tone. Upon returning home, about 80% of my photos turned out to have noise/grain issues. I have never had this issue in the past 2 years. I didn't change any settings within the rich tone feature. I tried manual mode when I got home and it took the photo perfect, no noise. I am wondering if it is something internal,.maybe motherboard, that is causing my smart mode settings to create the noise as my manual is fine? Please help!!!!
