Samsung LN-T2353H: Screen very dim, had temporary burn in / image persistence

For a few months now, whenever I would play games on the TV, some parts of the interface would linger around like a ghost for about 20 seconds afterwards. Recently the display suddenly started dimming, enough so that I couldn't use it any more.

In the dimmed display, I noticed some vertical bands and therefore suspected the T-CON after some research. I found the part number and ordered it online.
