With a known good USB-C cable, the phone will generate the yellow triangle and a blinking red LED. I have replicated the yellow triangle even after cleaning the charge port with a toothpick, a sewing needle, and one application of contact cleaner (and letting it dry after one hour). With a known good wireless charger, the phone will generate an encircled lightning bolt with no animation or percentage number, and then the phone will go dark. This repeats every 15 minutes or so and is still going after 12 hours on the wireless charger.

What else can I do to pinpoint the root cause and what parts should I replace to remedy that root cause?

Help! I have a three weeks old Galaxy S9+ and the notification of moisture detected at the USB charging port is keeping me from charging my phone and keeps alerting about the moisture. I live in Michigan so it’s not overly humid. This past weekend, it was rainy and humid and the darn phone wouldn’t let me plug in the fast charger. I didn’t have my wireless charger with me.

Is there something wrong with the phone? Should I return it to Best Buy and ask for an exchange or refund? Help I am conflicted. (By the way I switched from an iPhone 8 for a change of pace.)

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: My Samsung S9+ keeps swelling up batteries

After being of good service for over 5 years, my Samsung S9+ had the case halves split from a swollen battery. I got an Ifixit kit and replaced it and it happened again. The guarantee on the kit is good and I've asked for a replacement, but I wonder if the phone is the problem. I've had a Samsung bricked before.

Any ideas, anyone?

I've received 1 battery I bought then a replacement and both have shown the same problem in that they are showing up after several full discharges and recharges as having a battery health range of between 83 to 85 percent on supposed new batteries. Now I'm not ruling out that this isn't user error but I'm pretty fluent in smart phone and or tech repairs and I've done just about everything under the sun to recalibrate and erase any past health data but I still keep getting very consistent battery health results in the 80 to 85 percent range. What makes this incredibly frustrating is that the OEM battery was at 83percent if I remember correctly and lasted just about as long as these new ones do despite the OEM battery being almost 8 years old. I use accubattery to measure capacity and have deleted app data and did the recalibration in the appus the several deep charge cycles and still no difference in readings or screen on times vs the old battery. I just really want a good functioning battery any help with this would be appreciated. I really hope it is just some sort of fluke with the app I'm using to measure but idk cause the phone lasts almost the same amount of time even so I'm really confused by this situation. Tired of breaking back glasses too luckily I recently found 3 OEM replacement back glasses on eBay for the good price of $15 but this is after already having bought 2 at full price so I bought the 3 thinking if I have to open it again or I can always resell them if I dont need em.

Hello.

I replaced the motherboard on my Samsung Galaxy S9+.

Current symptoms:

• The phone charges normally and shows the battery percentage.

• The backlight turns on when I press the volume button while charging.

• However, the phone will not power on.

• The power button does not seem to respond.

I tried:

• Holding Power + Volume Down for 10 seconds

• Holding Power + Bixby + Volume Down

• Reseating the motherboard

• Tightening all screws

The phone clearly has power (charging works and backlight responds), but it will not boot.

Could this be a power button contact issue or something related to the frame contacts?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hello, I have a customer who tried to change their battery on their S9+ but accidentally shorted something. I've discovered that it was this capacitor here in this picture

I desoldered it and can't get a reading on it at all due to it being shorted. Would anyone happen to know the farad rating? I've tried to find schematics for this phone but can't quite seem to ever find this exact one.

I've replaced the battery in my SGS 9+. It worked well for about 18 hours, then touch screen stopped working at certain parts.. I restarted the phone and screen was only showing partly at a very low brightness + touch screen not working entirely so I am unable to even get into phone by entering pin (only 1,2,3 on keypad works). Display is not lit uniformly, only parst of screen are lit, and like 10% of normal brightness..

Any advice what can be done to fix this? Have I done something wrong? The only thing I can think of is too much heat or too much isopropanol.. but it worked for 18 hours perfectly fine.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: Cleaning loca glue from a smartphone speaker?

I tried to adhere a glass screen protector to my Samsung S9+ and made a mess of the loca glue. The glue got into the top speaker grill and I tried to clean it out with denatured alcohol / methylated spirits.

Unfortunately, right now the speaker sounds crackly. I’m thinking the denatured alcohol got inside plus the partially dissolved loca glue.

So what are my options? Can I fix the speaker by bathing it in more methylated spirits or buying some electronics contacts cleaner?

Or do I have to open the entire phone, losing the waterproofness in the process, and replace the entire speaker?

Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus: Fingerprint Sensor not working

Hi all, so I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+ that has had an inoperable fingerprint sensor for some time. I got the iOpener kit and a new fingerprint sensor from iFixit to fix this. However after installing the new one I got a message saying the sensor wasn't working. The flex cable is securely attached into the fingerprint sensor port. So iFixit sent me a new sensor, thinking it was a bad sensor. However the replacment recently arrived and this is won't register either. I keep getting the message "fingerprint sensor not working". I've restarted the phone, booted into recovery mode and cleared the system cache in case anything funky was happening. No dice. Has anyone encountered this error while replacing the sensor? The guide on iFixit makes it look like just plug in the one and you're good to go. Thanks for the help!

UPDATE

As no one was able to provide clarification, I have lived without the fingerprint sensor. I love having a headphone jack on my phone and don't want to upgrade to a newer phone due to this. So if you are here looking for a solution, apologies but I am not sure of one currently. (as of 8/16/2024)

After a screen repair, the phone displays a message stating it has paused charging due to high temperatures. However, the phone is not hot at all. I have replaced both the battery and chargeport but the issue continues to happen when plugged into a charger and when placed on a wireless charging pad. I know the Samsung S8 displayed this message if the phone was not fully assembled so I made sure to fully assemble the device before attempting to test all its functions. Any other part I may need to replace and check or any other recommendations?
