Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: Half my screen is covered with colored lines. Can I fix this?

The screen is covered on one side by colored lines. If I accurately guess where input buttons are I can still navigate via touch screen so that is still working. I just cannot see the entire desktop because of the colored lines. The system was not dropped or jarred in any way...just turned it on and half the desktop is gone. Can I repair this myself or should I take it somewhere? (I am an IT guy) If I need to take it somewhere, where can I find a list of service centers? If I can fix it myself, I would love some advice.

Regards,

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: Why does my tablet respond to S-Pen but not my fingers?

I just finished repairing one problem I had, where the screen gets all discolored. Once I closed it up and started it, it would not respond to my touch, nothing. I tried the S-Pen and it worked fine. Does anyone know what could have caused this? I reopened it and check the ribbon connections, the only one that looks questionable was the central ribbon cable. Now, I don't know much about electronics, but I noticed that on all the other connectors for the ribbon cables, there was a locking switch. I don't think the connection this ribbon cable has one, and I fear that out of ignorance I may have damaged the connector attempting to flip the non-existent locking mechanism. I believe this to be the cable that connects to the front screen (Not the LCD), and is what is used to communicate the touch input. So I think this is where my problem lies. Can someone enlighten me with their perspective on this issue? I think it must be a damaged connector (requiring me to get a replacement motherboard), the ribbon cable isn't fully connected (tried my best), or something else I am not seeing. Hopefully it is fixable, I would hate to have to scrap a tablet just after 5 months of use. Could it possibly be a broken or damaged digitizer? I have dropped it a few times.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: Boot Loop Issue - ODIN MODE

Hi All,

Looking to repair my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. It's stuck on the boot loop issue.

I have tried everything: Hard/Soft reset, connecting to the comp, booting into recovery mode, remove battery, nothing works.

I tried to flash the BIOS as recommended online, although my comp doesn't find the device when connected via USB. I also tired to boot it into recovery mode to wipe the device, but i only get the option to boot into ODIN mode.

At a bit of a loss here... any suggestions or ideas?

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: 2012 Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 with slow charging issue

I cannot seem to get this device to charge at a decent rate. When plugged in, it only pulls 0.83 A at 5.65 V. I have installed a new battery and have also reset the device, several times, each time it works marginally better for a while, then back to slow charging issues again. I have tried several different Samsung charging units and cords, all with the same outcome, slow charging.

Should I be looking for a deeper issue?

Thanks for your help.

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: Replaced LCD - Did not work.

My screen was displaying colors similar to 256k. White was teal, black was red, etc, and ghosting. Per iFixit.com; this would be the LCD. I purchased a replacement LCD from iFixit.com, and completed the repair (I am competent in the area of electronics). However, the new LCD is displaying similar issues, just not as bad. The new LCD is an improvement, but not what anyone would consider operating as it should.

The LCD supplied was "used" previously as noted on the website, and I was aware of this - but appears that the replacement LCD was defective prior to shipment. My question is this; when purchasing a product from iFixit.com - and it does not adequately address the issue, what can be done?

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1: What part do I need to replace wifi connection or antenna

I lost the ability to connect to wifi, getting the "not in range" message no matter where I try to connect (i.e. home, family member's home, Starbucks, couple of restaurants, etc.) Successfully connected until recently. All other devices work. I've seen this description so many times, I worked diligently to try all of the "soft" fixes which did not help. Took tablet to a local computer repair person. They tried things and then did a save and reset to factory settings. No help. The guy said "the c-chip is bad or failing," and the replacement of it would end up costing more than the tablet is worth. I advised to put it back together and I picked it up. I'm pretty handy and enjoyed the instructions for taking this tablet apart. Now I just need to know what component needs to be replaced to fix wifi.

I've read one article elsewhere that indicated the wifi component is part of the mother board, so have to replace the motherboard. Prices widely vary for that. Now I just want to check what part REALLY needs to be replaced and I'll replace it. It's a decent tablet that I use as part of my voice studio. I don't really want to spend the 200-500+ dollars for a new one, and don't really want to buy something that might not work as well as this one. So...there ya' go. Please let me know if you need additional info. I've probably done one of those TMI "questions" already! Thanks!
