Hello IFixIt, I recently had a problem with the phones screen and I went ahead and fixed it with the tutorial on here. However after basic use and some tests I found out this weird line that impairs the average daily use. Any fix/idea on what it is? I think it is a problem with the phones LCD, Let me know what you think.

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Charge symbol does display, but won't charge or attempt to boot

I stopped using my Galaxy Note 5 about a year ago when it simply stopped charging. I couldn’t be bothered investigating at the time, but I’ve decided to try to repair it.

Symptoms:

1) Charging symbol appears when plugged in but the charging symbol doesn’t fill and the device will not turn on or even seem to attempt to boot while in this state.

2) Holding key combinations for various resets doesn’t turn on the device, but the charging symbol disappears for a few seconds while some of those combinations are held. The symbol reappears a few seconds after letting the buttons go

3) I’ve tried with and without the stylus in the device (not sure if that would change anything)

I’ve ordered a new battery and will have a go at replacing that, but I’ve read many users have had similar issues related to a firmware update so I’m not sure if I’ll have success.

I will update this when I replace the battery.

Samsung Galaxy Note5: [HELP] Note 5 suddenly stopped booting up and has failed to mount Err.

Hi guys, so all of sudden when I was trying to use my note 5 (no root), I noticed that it was powered off and I couldn't power it on with power button. Can you please tell me if there is a way I can recover data on my phone without losing them? I also have Google Authenticator which is connected to many accounts online, If I lose data I will lose everything! Here is what I tried so far:

First thing I did was a soft reset ( power button + volume down) and the mobile turned on but unfortunately it kept looping on the Samsung logo screen. Then I tried to go to recovery mode (power button + home button + volume up) and from there I tried "reboot system now", "wiping cache partition (which I hope it doesn't remove any data?)" and "Run graphics test: which failed with error no command and then wiping cached data" all of them without success. One thing I noticed in the bottom section of recovery mode there are these errors:

No Support SINGLE-SKU

Supported API: 3

dm-verity error...

E: failed to mount / system (Invalid argument)

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Black screen, Blue LED, already tried factory reset, clear cache.

Note 5 (Verizon). Over the weekend I replaced the LCD screen and battery. Phone screen was broke about a year ago after being dropped, phone sat for about a year prior to repair. Phone will turn on, it shows the usual "Samsung Galaxy Note 5" boot screen, but once that loads, it goes to a black lit screen, with blue LED notification light to left of speaker. Phone does go into recovery mode and I've attempted to reboot in safe mode, cleared the cache, and also tried to do a complete factory reset/ data wipe. Still nothing, only loads to the black screen; it's like it's missing the software or something. Not sure where to go from here.

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Battery still not charging after battery replacement

Hello,

Over the last year I noticed that the battery on my Note 5 would recharge slower and slower. I switched to wireless charging which helped for a bit, but eventually it stopped charging all together. The mini usb port and wire would get hot when plugged in to charge, along with a spot left of the rear facing camera which also got hot.

I thought it was a faulty battery, so I manually replaced the battery with one from company HDCKU bought from Amazon. I could power the phone back on again, and collect my data, but it still won’t charge. The same areas would sometimes get hot when plugged in.

Can someone please help identify a fix for this problem?

Thanks!

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Can you replace Midframe without removing S Pen?

My Note 5 was dropped on the bottom right corner. The S Pen is really stuck in there and I can’t get it out. I’d like to replace the midframe and the back of the device. If I can do this it will look like nothing happened. However every tutorial that I’ve viewed says that you need to remove the S Pen to replace the midframe. Is there any way around this? Or is there a way to remove the S Pen internally?

Samsung Galaxy Note5: Charge port (Charging port Flex)

Good day. I currently own a Note 5 from Sprint. (SM-G920P) Since I am not in the US, the phone is having a hard time recieving LTE signals in my country. (The Sprint Note 5 only supports LTE Band 5.) My friend has offered me a Note 5 with a broken screen but it’s the international variant which works great in my country. (SM-N9208 Duos Variant.)

My question is if I do swap the boards out, would I have no problem with reception or charging since the charging flexes from both boards are different? (SM-N9208 logic board using a SM-N920P charging flex)

I have no problem in getting out the back glass covers on both Note 5s but I wouldn’t risk taking out my working display assembly to swap the charging flex.

TIA! Cheers.

Samsung Galaxy Note5: I need the data stored on my Note 5 but the screen is unusable.

I have tried the extraction tools and none are compatible with my model: sm-n920v. I was told by Samsung that i cant connect a hdmi to tv to unlock it without previously downloading an app. So now I either have to replace the screen, or try to remove the internal memory storage component if that is possible and easy. If it requires desoldering and is not easy or simple then I will have to try to replace the screen myself which also seems daunting. Thank you.

Samsung Galaxy Note5: What is the function of the white and blue cables inside the phone?

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 5 (SM-N920P). I recently replaced the digitizer. In the process, as I was removing the cables connecting the motherboard to the daughterboard, the port on the motherboard that the white cable connects to separated from the motherboard. I have everything back together, minus being able to connect that cable, but everything seems to be working except for the S-Pen. I have Wi-Fi, I have mobile signal, I have speaker, microphone... What is that connection for? Is it just to track the movement and functions of the S-Pen? I tried to buy another motherboard, but it was FRP locked so I'm trying to see if I can just use it as is. Seems as though I can right now, but I just wanted to make sure my phone wasn’t going to suffer a worse fate down the road if I continued to use it this way.
