Samsung Galaxy A40: Samsung A40 (UK) won't charge

Hi there, Firstly, the phone we have was not listed. My son has a samsung A40 (UK) after only having it for a few months the phone stopped charging. We bought a new cable and checked socket etc but still nothing. We contacted the provider who told us to take it to car phone warehouse. They said that it was a faulty charging port and that it wasn't covered under warranty. They also said that they will wipe the phone should we chose to have them repair it, as this was their standard procedure. My son had not been able to back his phone up as it had died at this point and didnt want them to wipe it. So, as I have repaired a fair few phones in the past, I bought the part (a small circuit board pba) and easily swapped them over, however, the phone was still not charging. I even bought a second one just in case the part was faulty, but it still won't charge. I cannot perform any software troubleshooting as the phone is dead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards Claire xx

Hi, my brothers Samsung A40 stopped charging yesterday following him dropping it, resulting in the phone being bent. The phone is now completely dead and he has a replacement in the mail. However, he doesn’t want to lose all of his images and contacts. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Samsung Galaxy A40: Is my phone's charging system working?

Hi, so I dropped my samsung phone into the sea in winter and I left it on my drawer for months. Now I tried to fix it, took off the motherboard shields and cleaned the corrosion. After that I replaced the charging board. Now I measured the end of the main flex and it shows 5v. When I measure the battery connector it shows 2.1volts. Is this normal? Should I pay 70 dollars to replace the screen and battery or is it a waste? Please answer, it is a very important phone to me, thank you

@oldturkey03 I cleaned all corrosion tho, even under the sheilds... Could it indicate anything else? Also now that I am checking with my multimeter I check 2.4 volts at the battery connector while charging instead of 2.1 volts. Also heres a photo of the motherboard

Also I got the ammeter, it shows 5volts and 0.00 amps. What should I do? My new battery also reads 2.65 volts with the multimeter, is it normal?

Samsung Galaxy A40: Retrieving media from a non-responsive phone

Hello,

My phone fell out of my pocket while I was riding a bike and the screen got seriously damaged to the point it doesn't display totally anything. However it still vibrates when I plug it in to charger so I believe it still could function. I tried to connect the phone to the pc through usb cable to get my gallery recovered but mtp usb driver failed to install (that wasn't the case earlier or with other phone I checked) and the devices didn't connect. Is there some way to get my data back? Any tips are welcome

Hello, I have a samsung a40 that fell in salt water at like December of 2023. I tried to fix it in mid 2024 but I got no signs of life. Today, which I have more tools than then, I tried to fix it again. I took off the shields off the chips and cleaned everything with 99 percent alcohol and an ultrasonic cleaner with distilled water. After replacing battery and charge port and sub-main cable, the phone draws 0.00 amps and a high pitched noise comes off the mainboard. No vibrating and no speaker, and no screen sign.I have a lot of important photos on there that I would like to save. Does anyone know if this phone is saveable?? And if it is, how should I proceed??Please answer it is very important!! Thank you. Here are some photos of the main board and a video of the high pitched sound when charging:

Samsung Galaxy A40: Charges slowly when turned off, doesn't charge at all when turned on

As the title says. The phone charges slowly when turned off (I know this because after it runs down to zero and shuts off again, if I leave it, it's about 5% charged in an hour). But when I turn it on, it doesn't even recognise that it's plugged in, and quickly runs low again. What's going on with this? I've tried chargers that are 100% confirmed to work in other phones and devices, on various sockets around the house, and nothing helps.

Samsung Galaxy A40: Black Blobs Appearing on Phone Screen, Can't Access Anything

Hi there, I’m kinda pulling my hair out trying to figure out this mess I’ve gotten myself into with my Samsung A40. My phone hit the ground hard by accident and despite no visible cracks, black/purple blobs have started spreading throughout the screen. Worst of all, touch screen functionality has ceased and I’m stuck in the Lock Screen. Rebooting it doesn’t work, which isn’t aided by the fact that the volume buttons don’t work to reboot it in the first place, so I had to run it out of charge to restart it. Alas, the touch screen still won’t function and the blobs are spreading.

I understand there may be damage to the AMOLED display, but I’m no expert on this. I have a lot of files stored internally that I never got around to backing up elsewhere and I’m very scared of losing them. Is there anything I can do to get into the phone and grab my stuff before the whole screen becomes unusable? Should I turn it off until I know what I’m doing? Is there any course of action I should take to help mitigate this problem? Thank you so much for your time.
