Samsung Chromebook xe503c12-k01us: I want to strip the Chrome OS from my Chromebook 2 and replace it

Ok so I have been looking to do this project for a little while. The chromebook 2 model I’m using has been depreciated for about 2 years now by google. It is still functional and i really do enjoy using it, and would like to use it to learn more about computing and coding in general so I’m putting myself to the project of removing the existing OS from the device and replacing it with a different OS, preferably Linux. I understand I could potentially destroy this device, that’s not an issue. I just would like to do it correctly, or as informationally beneficial as possible. I have seen a previous walk-through which seemed to be done using a Chromebook 3. I don’t know if the hardware setup is the same, and so I was hoping to come to the forums for more advice.

so my laptop wont let me download anything to it it says im not signed into google play but i am it also says that my google play isnt connected to my computer , i was wondering if these computers just dont download things my computer type is XE503C12-K01US so i copied what it keep saying and here it is- This Google account is not yet associated with a device. Please access the Play Store app on your device before installing apps.

I got a hold of a Samsung Chromebook 2 that has a huge issue with the built in keyboard not working properly. I get strange things like the volume down button bringing up some kind of Menu for something unrelated, the e button acting like a power button, and nearly all the other buttons do nothing. I believe you get the idea at that point. I was hoping for a compete teardown to help in the process of replacing the defective keyboard as the device responds nicely with an external keyboard. As it sits though, nobody has gone that far into the palmrest section of this device. (battery replacement or touchpad) So I'm sort of at a loss on how to move forward from this point.
