Router: My router doesn't turn on

Yesterday, I got a router from my ISP and it has not been switching on at all. At first glance, there were no signs of life. I eventually settled for opening the device, and heard a continuous clicking sound when the device was on. After closer inspection, there were two LEDs, each with a green and red light rapidly flashing. The router otherwise shows no signs of life, wifi does not work, and ethernet doesnt work either.

Can you help me?

Good morning from Scotland. I am an EE WiFi customer. Our WiFi has not been working for the last few days. The router has a green light that should be turquoise. I have followed EE's advice on their website, switch it on and off again and reset it. Still no interwebs. Could some kind person please let me know if there is anything else I can realistically do myself to fix the problem? 🧐 Thank you in advance

I’m about to buy a WIFI 6 WRT/Open Source router and need recommendations, explanations and comments.

I’ve read the online articles. I need to hear from someone who has one already.

I have an Airport Extreme and a Time Machine server. I have a Spectrum internet that constantly acts up. I don't know why I can't use either of mine to replace Spectrum's but it's not working. So when I buy a new one I want to plan for the future even if I have no immediate need. For example, once the stimulus check reaches me a big chunk goes to the mac mini M1. It's WIFI6 so the new router needs accommodate it. I'm a network nutso too. I started with twisted pair and then grinos for packet on two meter. So I want to have as much or little control over settings ergo WRT or at least open source router control.

Now the question for you and Dan: what inexpensive WIFI6 (meaning mac mini compatible) and open source os would you recommend ?

Unifi Dream Machine: Unit wont power on. Any ideas how to trouble shoot it and or fix it?

Tldr: machine wont power up no fans or lights.

I was gifted a unify dream machine 4 port cylinder router with some other unify gear, unfortunately I wasn't the original purchaser so I don't have any idea of how old it is. The gifter said everything worked great when it was packed up but unfortunately upon receiving the hardware everything but the router works well. I have tried to plug the machine in with multiple power cords and tried to hold the reset down while plugging it in. When it is plugged in the fan will do a ¼ turn and then stop. It's almost as though it has a bad capacitor but I'm not really even sure how to open the unit with out any damage and don't want to destroy the beautiful machine. ⁹

AirPort Extreme A1521: Can not reconnect cables to logic board?

I just opened my A1521 Airport Extreme to clean and lube the cooling fan, trying to solve the overheating problem. Everything has gone back together nicely until I got to the last step of connecting the two small connectors to the logic board. One of these goes to the indicator lamp, not sure about the other. After an hour of trying, I’ve had no success in getting the connectors to snap into place. The back of the connector is virtually smooth, so I don’t see how it is supposed to connect. It does not appear like the connectors broke when I removed them, but it seems like I’m trying to connect a smooth connector to a smooth surfaced circuit board. How are these supposed to connect?

Dan, that’s exactly what happened, I can now clearly see that both parts of the connectors pulled off of the board. The tear down instructions gave several warnings about being careful to not break the connector, and I was impressed with how easily and cleanly mine came off. Perhaps I will add a comment about what happened here. I left the reset switch connected to the board, and instead disconnect the actual switch from the case. My problem is with the LED and whatever the other is directly next to the LED. What is that one?

I recently got an AE with the issue written in title. The only thing I tried yet is resetting it. It goes from green light to orange and then starts rapidly flashing.

I haven’t worked yet with these devices so I have no idea where to start looking for solutions.

It doesn’t show up in Airport Utility on a Mac, neither on a Windows PC.
