Retina MacBook 2016: Little yellow button on logic board - what is it?

MacBook Retina 12" Early 2016

My MacBook doesn‘t turn on after SMC reset. I've found on Apple pages that this can happen if you reset the SMC without your MacBook connected to its AC power adapter. I've also tried PRAM and SMC reset and nothing.

Black screen, no charging sound and battery picture when connecting to power supply.

I wonder what is this little yellow button on logic board for? Do any of you have a problem like me?

Does anybody know location of power on pads?

Retina MacBook 2016: Replace some black film under the logic board? (MacBook Retuna 2016)

Hello! I'm replacing the battery on my 2016 Retina Macbook.

Accidentally, some of the black film on the bottom chassi, underneath the logicboard, got removed (some was accidentally scraped off, some got removed because I spilled solvent when removing the battery adhesive).

Is the purpose of this film just to isolate the logic board from the metal of the bottom chassi? If so - can I fix my problem by covering the lost spots of black film with kapton tape?

I highlighted the area I'm talking about in the picture attached. Thanks in advance!

Retina MacBook 2016: Force Trackpad Weak After Assembly

Hey all at iFixit.

I am working on this MacBook, and I have been using it for a few months now without any issues. Yet, I couldn't help but notice that the force trackpad was very weak. I could hear the click, but I could barely even feel it. I took the machine apart, but the trackpad felt fine. After a snapped the lower case back on, the trackpad became weak again. Something happens when I snap the lower case on, and the trackpad loses power. I feel like something might be bent on the lower case, but nothing appears off.

Should I look somewhere else? Why would the trackpad lose power by simply putting on the lower case?

Retina MacBook 2016: Temperature error in FaceTime

Hey guys. I’ve been working on the Mac recently, and it’s been giving me a headache. I recently solved a problem with it running extremely slow, thinking that the Mac detected my replaced battery and rejected it. Eventually the performance increased a little, but not much. Now when I head into FaceTime, it simply states “Temperature: Video will resume when Mac cools down.” I understand that could be an issue except the Mac is not even warm. I left it off all night and just woke it up to see if something changed, but the error remains.

It makes me think that the issue I was dealing with about it running extremely slow was related to this. I think the Mac’s thermal sensors think the Mac is very hot and needs to cool, therefore lowering the performance. So, is there an easy way to fix this? Or would it require a Logic Board replacement?

Alright here’s what I found:

Ran Diagnostics.

FaceTime Still needs help.

Photos hasn’t synced in hours.

And I got this app…

And now I’m getting this error

I did try to replace the Trackpad flex cable, but as you can see, the one on the right it the replacement, the cable was defective when I got it.

I just changed the battery on my Mac following this guide.
Retina MacBook 2016: Can't install MacOS, no internet connection

Hello,

I got a MacBook Retina 12" from 2016 from eBay, that apparently has an issue with WiFi/Bluetooth.. I hoped a SMC reset or PRAM reset would help, however, so far, I didn't even get to the point of trying everything.

The Mac currently has no OS installed (flashing folder icon when starting).

I tried a PRAM reset and also an SMC reset, but so far with no success. The weird thing is: I don't even get to recovery mode, where I could get to the disk util.. When holding cmd+r, all I get is the globe with the explanation mark and the error code -1005F.

It's so odd for me. When trying to hold option for boot options, I actually get to those - WiFis don't show up though. The only option I can pick is internet recovery (which of course is not working without WiFi).. I also tried connecting a (custom brand) usb c adapter with a lan cable, but that didn't do anything either at that point.

My first goal now would be to install MacOS, to theoretically be able to use the Mac without WiFi, but with ethernet.. Is it normal, that I can't get to the recovery?

Unfortunately, I don't have another Mac right here to create a bootable drive - that might work, but is not really an option...

Any ideas what to try?
