Recreational Vehicle: Speedometer not working but all other gauges are? Solved

I have a 2005 Gulf Stream class A motor home on a Ford V-10 chassis. I went to take the motorhome out and the speedometer doesn't work but the odometer and trip meter do. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be and where the part is located to fix this problem. I did try and replace speed sensor in the rear end but didn't fix the issue I'm sure its something easy to fix but hoping someone else has had this issue

Update (05/30/2019)

Ok just for anyone else out there having this issue with your speedometer I had to send it out and have it repaired apparently this is a issue with a lot of different instrument clusters but this was my CLUSTER/SPEEDOMETER number 3C3F10849MA they had to replace some internal parts but now is working again like it should and at a great price. If you want more info contact me

Recreational Vehicle: Slide-out motor will not work.

My 12 foot living room slide stopped working. It apparently has 2 motors which are synchronized to work each end of the slide when I press the extend or retract button. One of the two motors stopped working. My Thor motorhome manual does not show a fuse for the motors in the fuse panel. (1) Is there a fuse for these motors & if so, where will I find them? (2) I've looked under the chassis for the motors (along the track/rails) but can't find them. Might they be covered with some kind of shroud ? Also, are they likely located together or separately at both ends of the slide rail? (I've located the control module in a compartment where many wires enter but following the wires in the many wiring harnesses to the motors has proven difficult and without success.

(3) What is the best way to troubleshoot the problem? I suspect if it is not a blown fuse (possibly in-line fuse ??), the motor may be dead. If it is the motor, (4) where might I find one online for a reasonable price?

Thanks in advance for your advice. JK in SA

Recreational Vehicle: Why is my voltage gauge showing low when battery is charging?

Here’s what I know:

2001 National Surf Side 3311 motorhome. It’s on a Ford chassis.
Ford V10 Engine, Ford gauges, etc.

Near as I can tell it has a 3G Ford alternator.

While driving, the voltage gauge on the dash shows ~8V and doesn’t move much up or down. Every other gauge functions as normal (oil pressure, engine temp, tach, speedo, etc).

Testing with a good Fluke multimeter: At the battery it’s showing 12.6V while sitting and showing ~14V while running (so I assume alternator is charging).
At the alternator, I have 4 wires:

4 gauge black/red that shows constant 12V

Then a 3 pin plug that has the following wires:

Red/lt blue with 12V constant

Lt green/red with 13+V when engine is running

Brown/black wire with 7.3V when engine is running (this wire comes out of the 3 pin plug and goes back into a single pin plug that’s also on the alternator, it doesn’t go anywhere else.)

My question is should the brown/black wire show a higher voltage? If the battery is charging then what would cause a low voltage on the gauge? I am assuming the voltage regulator attached to the alternator is bad but thought I’d check here first before just buying parts. Thanks in advance.

Recreational Vehicle: Why are the new AGM (3) coach batteries unable to power fridge?

2018 Mercedes Sprinter 2019 Winnebago Revel Original owners. This RV does NOT have a generator. It does have 200w of solar panels. ZS 30A zamp solar controller. 2000w inverter. progressive dynamics converter #9245. 3 100 amp hour interstate marine deep cycle ... dual purpose batteries 200 reserve capacity each. They are mounted under the vehicle and weigh too much for us to mess with!

New this month! OUCH $500 each even though interstate charges direct customers $399.! 4 trips 8 man hours just shuttling! Went a couple of times to pick up our vehicle, ..not fixed.

We hadn't t used it much with the original batteries however. We thought the problem was the coach batteries. Went to Winnebago approved service center, had them replaced. Same issues. We know 50% is the max amp hours we can get out of the AGM batteries. If we turn anything on for less than a minute or 2 things go sideways!

BTW. Had our old batteries load tested after they were removed and they are good.

When we turn on the refrig with a fully charged battery bank the refrig makes too much noise. the Zamp controller shows 11 ish volts. (great NOVAKOOL refrig... very quiet and never a problem with it. Equivalent of less than 40w bulb) If we are on shore power, it is very quiet and works fine.

Something seems to be amiss.... Grounding? short?

If we turn on 3 led lights at the same time - reading is 11 ish or below (FULLY CHARGED)

After attempting "approved service centers" we are starting to understand that we have to figure it out!

Have taken a few trouble shooting steps. Want to take more, so am reaching out here to see if anyone is familiar with this particular vehicle.

I think we have been the experiment.... newer models have nifty things like a solar shut off switch (we have to unplug solar on the roof if we don't want the panels feeding in). Newer models have % of charge monitors for the batteries. Our model has the zamp controller, and a "one place" that shows Volts.

Lots of folks are ripping out brand new systems in these to put lithium batteries in.

Newer models come with Lithium batteries. We hear they have their own set of issues. For me ... there is NO WAY I want to sleep above a bank of batteries.

We need help and hand holding taking the troubleshooting one step at a time.WB TABLE OF CONTENTS Electrical
