Hello iFixit Support Team,

I recently purchased a replacement battery (Betty, RZ09-0102) from iFixit for my Razer Blade 2014 laptop (model RZ09-0102).

After carefully following the iFixit installation guide, I am experiencing the following issues:

- The first time I used the laptop unplugged after installation, it lasted approximately 1 hour before shutting down. Since then, the battery only lasts approximately 5 minutes before the laptop shuts down abruptly.

- upower on Linux Mint reports 0 Wh and 0% at all times, even after several hours of charging

- The charge_now value in /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/ always returns 0

- The laptop works fine when plugged into AC power

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps:

- Reconnecting the battery connector multiple times

- Performing full charge/discharge cycles

- Updating upower

- Multiple reboots

I am not sure whether the battery is defective or if there is a compatibility issue with Linux Mint. Could you please help me diagnose the issue and advise on next steps?

I also ran i2cdetect -y 0 on the SMBus I801 adapter and got no response from the battery BMS — the grid shows only dashes, confirming the BMS is completely silent on the SMBus.

Razer Blade RZ09-0102: Why laptop is not turning on?

I have razer motherboard rz09-0327. I have checked the voltage lines, every voltage rail is present, when I press the button on the mother board fans spins, gpu and cpu get warm and everything shuts after approximately 5 seconds, but there is nothing on the diplay. And battery getting charged as well, I tested the voltage. There are no shorts that I could find. What might be the problem? Or where else I have to look?

Hello guys,

Could you please tell me where is the Fuse of the Screen backlight on the mainboard ?

The screen is working but there is a backlight problem.

I believe the backlight problem was caused by my missed inserting of the backlight connector, and there will be no problem in the screen itself. I appreciate your answer.

So my friends laptop got a swollen battery. Turned out the connector melted due to oxidation and then overheating. No image search, “educated guess” search or scrolling through endless connectors on mouser.com helped. Razer doesn’t have spares (of course). Please help me find this %#*@ thing.
