DAB Radio: Bush Radio powers on with new power supply but wont tune.

Bush radio original power supply is 5.9v the lead became dodgy so I bought a third party replacement, sold as suitable for the model of radio. Replacement power supply is 6v. The radio powers on and the clock and tuner displays on the colour screen on the radio work properly, but the radio says that every station is 'not available' . Swap back to the old power supply, which isn't suitable long term because of the dodgy lead, and the radio works perfectly. The only other difference is that the old power supply has a large interference surpressor on the cord which the new one doesn't have - or if it does have it - it is in a much smaller fitting nearer the output plug. What could be causing this behaviour Any solutions?

I have a President Grant 40 channel. AM SSB. It appears to be recieving as it sounds like it when antenna is connected. It has a external VFO. Antenna is nice at 27mhz. Its new to me and I havent had the back of yet. Questions.

What exactly is my VFO for?

My signal strength needle does not seem to work, does not move much?

My select switch could be bad as I have LSB but it is dead quiet on AM and USB

The radio come with a small kenwood mic, which did not work, another new CB mike I had here seems to work. The light comes on when triggered. The VFO has an on off switch, do you think I will ever use it? When it triggers the signal meter shows a small movement.

The signal meter rises up with modulation when I key the mic and speak.
