The elements are resistive wire that is attached to the aluminum base and secured by a spring to hold it secure. The braiding around the wire deteriorated exposing the heating element inside. If I can find some generic heating wire I can take it from there and figure out the proper length i.e. resistance, calculating the wattage, etc. Thanks for your response.
