Power Mac G4 M5183: Best way to test the stock hard drive

I picked this up due to a power issue, essentially taking a chance. I had a window to power test it and after I removed a common failure point the machine powered right on. However it has a Maxtor 20GB hard drive that is original to the machine. It doesn't say what it is being OEM but it looks like a DiamondCrash 10.

Given I know Maxtor drives have a reputation what would be the best way to test it against failure on this Mac?

Update (04/14/24)

The video card works. YES.

Power Mac G4 M5183: Stays on Boot Screen and Nothing More. What can I do?

I'm fairly new to Mac softwares and hardwares.... 3 days ago I was gifted by a friend a Power Mac G4 Quicksilver and it didn't came with its peripherals, just the tower. Today I decided to plug it in to see what it needs to be updated and cleaned and when I turn it up it stays on the boot screen and doesn't do anything else, even doesn't show the loading spinning wheel. I unplugged it, pressed the I/O button, removed the RAM and the battery from the mother board, after 5 minutes I put both things back in and when I turn it on again it stays on the boot screen like the first time. I left it like that for some time now to see if it boots completely but nothing. Also I don't have the OS CD.

From what I could see on the mother board it has 3 128Mb RAM's and 2 40Gb HD's

Power Mac G4 M5183: Cannot install new OS on internal DVD drive

I tried to upgrade my operating systemm from Tiger to Leopard. The computer or DVD drive did not allow the installation to complete. It had to be aborted, and now the computer will not boot up properly at all. It starts up, The apple symbol and a turning wheel appears, then the screen goes black and it starts up again, and the same thing happens. I end up having to just shut down the computer.

I was able to get back to the installation window, by holding down the "C" button while it rebooted. It then asked me to reinstall Leopard. After a short time, I got a message on the screen accompanied by a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside it. The accompanying comments said that the instalation had failed, and the disc may have been damaged, yet when I took the disc to a local computer store, they were able to successfully install it on one of their machines.

Power Mac G4 M5183: Power Mac G4 Tower Shut Itself Down, Won't Start Now

Power Macintosh G4 500 DP (Gigabit) M7893LL/A*

Wouldn't power up a couple of months ago. Randomly one day after several weeks I hit the power button and it was fine. Have used it 4-5 times over a couple of weeks since then. Tonight after about 3-4 minutes it shut down as if the power cord had been pulled. It will not power up. I was using a browser when it happened. I know the AC cord is live, I can hear the small electrical click when the contacts make a connection with the machine. The PRAM(?) battery reads 3.7v with a meter. I removed it for 10 minutes once and then an hour once, following reset procedure to no avail. All peripherals were disconnected during attempted reset. I do not see any lit LEDs on the motherboard although I don't recall ever seeing one but I have read that maybe there is one. (A few years ago I replaced the power supply after the tower would not power up following a neighborhood power outage due to lightning. We seem to have several outages each year in this area. Just background info, don't know if there's any relation to current problem.)
