PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Canon G7x 2 turns on but screen is completely black. No picture.

Hello,

I have a canon G7x mark 2 that was working perfectly fine today for about 2 mins before it went to !&&*. I turned the camera on and it was fine before the camera seemingly “turned off”. When I pressed the power button to turn it back on the camera powered up as usually but the screen was completely black. There was no indication that the screen was even connected to a power source. The LCD screen looks as it would if the camera is off. No background glow, no error message displayed. Just a black screen. Everything else works, sounds, buttons, battery is fully charged. I do not understand what caused this as I said the camera was completely fine before it randomly went into this mode. The battery is new so it can’t be this. I already opened a support ticket but I just want to see if anyone has any advice here before I ship my camera off. My birthday is on Saturday and I’m going away on a trip which I expected I’d have a camera with me for. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks in advance.

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Screen is completely detached

My camera fell and there are no screws keeping the screen intact with the camera, so it's being held with the thin cable, which looks like a film. The film ripped, so now the screen is completely detached from the camera. What do I do??? How much would it cost to get the screen attached back to the camera? Also how much to replace the screws?

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Can't Take Photos + Black Screen + Lens Gets Stuck Halfway

I recently dropped my Canon G7X Mark ii and the flip screen got loose and detached from the camera body. This also ripped the flex cable that connects the screen to the body in half. I replaced the flex cable and tried to power on the camera. It powers on, but I get a black screen equivalent to as if it was turned off. There are no signs of backlight. There are no cracks on the screen from the damage either. Battery is fully charged. I tried taking a photo by pressing down on the shutter button but nothing happens.

When you turn it on, the lens extends outwards. When you turn it off, the lens either stays extended or it retracts half way. If I hit the play button while it is extended, the lens retracts all the way which is how I turn off the camera now. At this point, I’m not sure if it is simply just the problem with the flex cable and the screen. I feel that it may be another issue with the camera. If anyone have any suggestions, please let me know!

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Camera won't turn on after dropping it

(Well it’s actually a Mark III but that’s not an option but oh well, it’s probably the same anyways), So, umm.. awkward moment. Older cousin wanted to see the camera for a sec, I was gonna lend it to her, but then my FAT pinky finger was caught on the wrist strap when the camera was on her hands, I didn’t realize it, I moved away (while pinky still stuck on strap), it kinda flung away from her hands and straight onto the floor (I was gonna say something like “You have NO idea how it felt like when that happened”, but hey, since this is a question forum, you probably do). Luckily, there seemed to be no external damages at ALL (very surprisingly). Unluckily, it won’t turn on no matter what I do. It just doesn’t react to anything. Changing the battery, nope. Trying to plug it in on my PC, no response whatsoever. It’s basically a paperweight now, with no reaction to whatever I do. Plus, the lens is sticking out because it was out when it fell and basically died, and I’m scared if I just force it in, it’ll break (it probably will), so.. yeah. HELP! WHAT DO I DO?!

PowerShot G7 X Mark II: Canon G7X Mark II took a bad fall, attempting to diagnose problems

About a year ago, the canon G7X Mk. II was in the side of the car door, and fell directly onto the pavement. Not too high of a fall, but enough to pretty much total the camera. It’s not my camera, it’s my girlfriends, but I was there to see what happened.

So now it’s in my possession for a potential fix. I’m ready to take it apart and do whatever is necessary. But I just wanted a little help to find where the potential problem may lie

Here’s the behavioral patterns of the machine:

Upon Startup, there is one of three things that will happen;

1) The canon logo will display as normal, the lens will go forward and back, and then this will appear on the screen (pictured below). The amount of actual area shown on the screen is completely random, what the LCD usually displays is, pink, green, or a distortion of whatever is infront of the lens at the time it’s turned on. That image will stay until the camera automatically turns off about 20 seconds later. Also, pressing buttons does nothing while the screen is distorted.

2) The canon logo will glitch out, like the picture above. I have not been able to replicate this since my early attempts. But I still wanted to make note of it.

3) The camera will not display anything. Usually when the LCD is flipped up this will happen, but this will also happen when the lens goes from an open to close position. Since the camera automatically turns off after 20 seconds, the lens does not retract all the time. So the camera sometimes starts from the lens open and closes upon startup. The behavior of the lens itself is completely random. It’s also worth noting that when the battery is low, the LCD will display the “Charge The Battery” message, the LCD is fine until it shuts down.

I have a few theories as to where the problem may lie, but I’m not very well versed with repairs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start? Any help is much appreciated, thank you :)
