PlayStation One: MY PSOne won't read discs

Recently, I decided to go retro and bought an old PSOne console with the LCD screen component that goes on top. The screen works fine but the console itself is having some problems. I tried to play a disc and at first, it runs then it gets to the Sony logo screen before it resets and starts the loading process again. The console will keep doing this unless you turn it off. At first I thought it was the game disc so I inserted a CD and it did the same thing. I'm still relatively new to all this and I'm not sure if it's either the laser lens or the spindle but I don't hear any scratching or loose parts inside the console. Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be?

PlayStation One: Darkened screen and distorted colors.

Hi! I have a ps one (the remodeled, smaller playstation) and Ive always used it gently. These days I rarely use it, but I always have it ready for use in my room. A month ago I turned it on and the screen looked darkened and the colors somewhat distorted. Videogamewise, the machine works and reads cds perfectly. Could it be a problem with the video output of the machine? Ive tried with different tvs and cables, and the result is always the same. A technician told me that this issue has no way of being fixed, and recommended me to change the motherboard. Is this true? Is there still a way to fix it without changing the motherboard? Thanks for reading! ;)

PlayStation One: messed up graphics chip?

I have had this stored in the closet for years, because I don't know how to fix, if it is worth fixing, I have a problem with graphics, it's not the games, seems to be some bad chip? maybe overheated? tried different known working video cables, and same thing, scrambled graphics, that roll as if it were in PAL mode? to me it might just be a chip, or cold solder joints... but unsure..

PlayStation One: Replaced capacitor c551, now hangs on first boot screen

As the title suggests...I had originally replaced c550 because composite was garbled and this fixed it. I recently got an s-video cable and noticed I had the same problem. Went ahead and replaced c551 and now the colors/picture looks flawless over s-video but it hangs on the white Sony boot logo (regardless of whether a game in the console or not.) It doesn't look like I bridged anything (I think) but not really sure where I went wrong. Anyone have ideas towards what could've caused this?

Edit: here's some pics, my god the soldering is worse than I recall. Now that I'm looking closer, that glob next to the C508 text looks like it could be part of the problem?

PlayStation One: Why is my PS one (with LCD) in a continual reset loop?

My PS one and LCD screen combo unit is susceptible to reset loops. Sometimes it will start up and play very well, and then it will suddenly reset in mid-game and reset continually.

When a reset loop occurs, the system logo screens will load while booting up, once the disc is being accessed reset will recur. Patient waiting of many resets might allow for the disc to load and start the game sequence, but upon pressing a button to go to the start/select screens (requiring the disc to be read-accessed again) will usually result in an immediate reset.

I actually have an extra PS one unit and have tested the same LCD screen on both units with identical results so I suspect the problem has something to do with power flow from cable head to LCD to PSone unit that is somehow affecting proper functionality,

PlayStation One: My AV Port doesn’t work?

So I went to play on my PSOne the other day and found that plugging in the AV connector to the console and TV did absolutely nothing. It’s worked perfectly in the past but recently does not. I swapped for one that I know works and it still didn’t give anything different. My TV doesn’t recognise Ive plugged in the console. I tried a different TV too and nothing happened. Is there anything I can do to fix it that doesn’t require tediously going through with a multimeter and soldering on new bits?

PlayStation One: How do I fix my playstation?

I have a PS one. It doesn't run the disc(the game). It was working before this and recently seemed to stop working. Before this I was able to get it working after trying to start it for a while, it seemed like it had to warm up before running the game. but then, the other day, I had been playing on it and I stopped and then right afterward tried to start it up again and it didn't work. I am wondering, do I just need to replace my disc drive again or is there more to the problem I'm having now? Oh yeah. And, it seems like I might have overheated it on accident because I just had it sitting on the carpet floor while I was playing on it instead of on a table or something similar. Oh yeah, and some more detail: now whenever I try to start it, one of these two or both of these two things happens- the laser doesn't move like it's supposed to, and/or the disc doesn't spin properly. And then it stops of course. Yeah, so now as far as I can tell it never works. So I'm wondering if I just need a new disc drive for it, or if there might be more that needs to be fixed than just that.
