PlayStation 5 Slim: Games crashing, only when going to online part of games.

I have a PS5 Slim Disc Edition that’s about 1.5 years old. The console works normally in the menus, and I can launch games without issue. For example, Fortnite loads into the lobby just fine, but the moment I ready up and it transitions into an online match, the console crashes with an error (I can provide the exact error code if needed). This behavior is consistent whenever the game starts an online match. I took it to a local repair shop, and they cleaned the console and inspected it. They also looked into the liquid metal/thermal side of things, but ultimately told me the console was beyond what they were able to repair and recommended sending it to Sony. Before I do that, I’m hoping to get opinions from people who repair PS5s regularly. Based on these symptoms, what hardware failure would you suspect? Does this sound more like an APU, RAM, SSD, motherboard, network chip, or another known PS5 Slim issue? If you’ve seen this exact behavior before, what ended up being the cause, and would you send it to Sony or seek out a board-level repair specialist instead?

PlayStation 5 Slim: PS5 Slim CE-108255-1 crash when joining online matches

I have a PS5 Slim Disc Edition (~1.5 years old). It works fine in menus and lobbies, but crashes with error CE-108255-1 specifically when transitioning from a lobby (like Fortnite) into an online match.

A local repair shop cleaned it and checked the liquid metal/thermals, but they couldn't find the fix and recommended sending it to Sony.

I've already tried basic software troubleshooting. Based on this specific 'crash on match start' behavior, is this likely an APU, RAM, or SSD controller failure? Has anyone seen this specific symptom on a Slim model, and did it require a full board replacement or can a specialist fix it?

PlayStation 5 Slim: Slim shows no lights, but the fan turns on?

I bought a broken ps5 slim recently that had a solid blue light for about 2 seconds before turning off. The fan ran for a second but no picture or anything. I took it apart, cleaned it, and tested the power supply which runs just fine. I figured it likely had something to do with the motherboard and just put it back together since I don’t have the tools for anything involved with that. Now I plugged it in and it shows no lights or beeps or anything, but the fan still turns on for a second. Not only that, but it only gets some power from the power cord once. I have to unplug the cord and plug it back each time I try to turn it on. I’m not sure what’s wrong or if I made the issue worse? Should I just take it to a shop at this point or can I still do something?

PlayStation 5 Slim: Fixing the vertical stand screw mount of the PS5 CFI-2115

I accidentally stripped the screw whole of my PS5 where the vertical stand is supposed to go, and I’m trying to use these Mr. Grip screw hole repair kits to fix it. However, I can’t get the strips to stay in without falling into the console and needing to be shaken out. Is this the best option for fixing it? Or is there something else that might need to be used instead?

PlayStation 5 Slim: PS5 Slim won't turn on after electrical surge/lightning strike

My PlayStation 5 Slim was connected to a wall outlet when a power surge occurred (lightning/electrical strike). Now the console shows no signs of life—no lights, no beeps, and it won't power on even with a different cable and outlet.

Is this likely a blown fuse in the internal power supply, or is it common for the motherboard to be damaged in these scenarios? Are there any specific test points on the PS5 Slim power supply to check for voltage?

PlayStation 5 Slim: Where can I find a replacement fan for the PS5 slim?

Hi,

My PS5 slim fan started making a very annoying rattling noise (kind of like telegraph boops). I've had it for a few years now and it's definitely out of warranty.

I thought I'd check out iFixit and there's a great tutorial on how to replace the fan. I have all the tools necessary to do the work, but I need a new fan. And that's where the troubles begin.

The US iFixit has the part available to order, but not the canadian one (there's very little on the canadian one in general... why? Maybe that should be a separate post). The canadian sony store also doesn't offer any replacement parts. I'd rather not order from sketchy amazon or ali express merchants or unreliable quality.

Is there a trustworthy place I can order a new fan from in Canada?

Thanks.

PlayStation 5 Slim: PS5 slim high pitch noise

I got a second hand PS5 Slim that makes a very audible and annoying noise when running games.

I've read many similar complaints about fan noises or UFO sounds (whatever that is) but I don't think it is the fan. I already removed and cleaned it, and if I place my ear against the PS5 without the cover the sound is a lot louder near the bottom. It also seems to be more silent when I put pressure around this area, or when I place it horizontally.

The original owner claims he never heard anything like it and assumes something happened during transit, as the face cover was also loose when it arrived (although I have no way of knowing if this is true).

Anyone have idea what the problem is, and what I could do?

Added a video with the sound before and after booting a game.
