PlayStation 4 Pro: PS4 Pro Optical Drive Not Engaging to Pull in Discs

Trying to diagnose an issue with our PS4 Pro (model CUH-7015B). My son took it apart to clean and apply new thermal paste (everything was working, but he said it was warm). He put it back together and it powers on fine, but when you try and insert a disc, the rollers do not come on to pull the disc in.

Observations:

He took it apart with a disc in the drive

When powered up, it would not eject the disc, so we had to manually eject the disc

When he removed the ribbon cables, he just pulled them out (didn't release the latch on the large drive ribbon cable)

When I took the drive apart (he did not take the drive apart previously) I noticed it appears to be missing a white plastic piece from the top metal plate next to the manual eject screw based on comparing it with pictures online

If I put a disc in until I meet resistance then use the manual eject to pull it in, it pulls in fine and everything appears to be functioning, so maybe we're not missing that piece. No idea how it could be missing since we'd never had it apart before.

When I press eject with no disc in, it beeps 3 times which I read means there is no disc, so it appears to know it's empty.

When I try to insert a disc with the console off, it turns on, so it recognizes me trying to put in a disc.

What I've checked:

Both fuses F6201 and F6202 on the motherboard have continuity with .2 ohms resistance max.

All three ribbon cables have continuity from the motherboard pins to the daughter board pins, so ribbon cables appear to be fine.

All the micro switches (3 that I can find) inside the drive are open when the pin is extended and closed when pushed in/arms are open to accept a disc.

PlayStation 4 Pro: PS4 Pro crashed 3 times and now will not turn on

My PS4 Pro crashed three times in a row while in use and then shut off completely. Now, it will not turn back on at all. When I press the power button, there are no lights and no beeps.

I have already tried:

1. Unplugging the console for over 20 minutes to perform a power cycle.

2. Attempting a "Disc Wake-up" by inserting a game disc (the drive does not take the disc).

3. Attempting to boot into Safe Mode by holding the power button (no response).

Given that it crashed multiple times before failing, is this likely a Power Supply Unit (PSU) failure, or could it be a more serious motherboard issue? Are there specific components or fuses I should test with a multimeter?

PlayStation 4 Pro: Not Turning On After 2 Months Unplugged, No Light, No sound, Small PSU

Hi everyone, I posted before about this but here’s an updated situation:

Left my PS4 Pro unplugged for about 2 months while I went back to my hometown

When I plugged it back in, the console does absolutely nothing (no blue light, no beep)

Normally it shows the blue light after a second, but now there’s no light at all

If I put my ear near the PSU area, I can hear a very small click or faint electrical noise

When plugging in the power cable, I can hear a small sound from the plug/PSU

I already completely disassembled it and cleaned both the PSU and motherboard, only handheld turbo fan (low to medium dust blowing mode, not high pressure)

No visible damage, no burnt marks, no bugs, nothing looks wrong

I tried drying it with a fan before because the weather here is quite humid, just for sure

The console still does nothing when pressing the power button, enject or use controller to turn on(no connection)

-The console was working fine the last time I used it. I left it unplugged before going back to my hometown. Previously, the PSU had a coil whine issue but it still worked normally. The disc drive also made a loud noise on the first read, but it remained functional. I didn’t bring a multimeter with me when I returned because I didn’t expect this problem to happen. I also haven’t tried another PSU yet, but I plan to test one in the next few days. For now, I just want to understand what might have happened.

A couple of months ago, I tried to disassemble my PS4 pro and it didn't end well. Long story short, my PSU was a bit bent and I broke traces on the edges. I soldered it, but it didn't work - when I pressed "turn on" button, a blue light was emitted for a second and instantly turned off. Furthermore, PSU connector was torn off, so I had to solder it too. Recently, I bought a new PSU thinking it would make my console work. But no, nothing changed. Except, now it makes 4 short beeps after the second attempt to turn it on (I marked a place where the sound comes from). I'm clueless; it SHOULD work. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!⏎
⏎
https://vocaroo.com/1ed3ELEtnswf

PlayStation 4 Pro: Needing 4 pin PSU - motherboard cable for 300ER psu

One end of the cable smells like burnt plastic, but for the life of me, I can't smell any other area burnt or see fire damage. I was playing Days gone after I reapplied thermal paste and cleaned it spotless, and about half an hour playing, I saw a multi colours on the screen before it shutdown, and could smell something burnt. Would it be safe to try putting it back together and try playing again? It works fine, just shuts down during Days gone. Also the fan is so quiet I had to remove the cover to see if it was still spinning.

Thank you all.

PlayStation 4 Pro: PSU replacement connector cable differences

Hi,

Recently the PSU on my ps4 pro blew (popped cap) so I got a new one, the previous PS4 pro had the ADP-300P1A PSU in and my new one has the ADP-300CR.

PlayStation 4 Pro: PS4 Pro beeps once, then blue light flashes once then shuts off

I had a working PS4 Pro (CUH-7215B), which was running really loud and hot, so I took it apart (it was working fine before I opened it up), cleaned up all of the dust, and replaced the Thermal Pads (1mm all in the correct places), new thermal paste (not too much not too little), put it all back together and it started to beep once and then blick once and then shutsdown again. I tried replacing the PSU, but it didn't change. It runs off an SSD, but it didn't warrant any problems, definitely not overheating unless theirs no contact on the die. If someone's got any advice, insights, or help, that'd be awesome!

Hi all.

Does anyone know what component this is marked in the image and its value? I saw in another image I found online that it appears to be a resistor.

If anyone has a board they can measure and tell me, I'd be very grateful!

PlayStation 4 Pro: My PS4 pro wont turn on, power button not working, but eject botton do

I didnt turn on my ps4 pro for 2 weeks, today when i turned it on it gave up on me.

the behaviour is as follows,

when I switch on power from wall socket and try turn it on form the 1st time it gave me 3 beeps and turned off, when i tried to tun it on it gave a beep and went into safe mode. which ever option i try in safe mode it boots back to safe mode(loop). Tried update with pendrive and also full reinstall as well.
i read somewhere that power input issues, so I tried unplugging and put the adaptor in different socket. the things went further bad.
now i cant turn on my ps4 pro at all, power button stopped responding, i can’t turn on using my controller (tried both wired and wireless).
I was using a ssd, so I tried replacing with original HDD as well. same behaviour.

I thought my ps is dead, then suddenly i clicked on eject button and it gave 2 beeps saying no disk in bay. so i tried inserting a disk, and my ps4 pro started to boot and again it went into safe mode loop, like earlier.
So I am not sure what is the problem is, is it anything i can fix or hardware issue.
Any helps on how to proceed further is highly appreciated .

PlayStation 4 Pro: PS4 Pro: Power ribbon cable replacement for power button on console?

So I recently bought a used ps4 pro where the power button (on the console) doesn’t work. I opened it up and turns out the power ribbon cable for the power button is missing.

I’d like to replace it, problem is I’m not sure what ribbon cable it is. Any suggestions / clues?
