So every time I turn on my PS4, the HDMI input keeps switching from no signal to no support over and over while the PS4 runs. It repeated this over and over, even in safe mode till I turned it off. Is there any fix for this? (I have an older Vizio television)

PlayStation 4: Disc drive no longer alive after cleaning

so i bought a ps4 ( model is CUH-1003A ) and it sounded like a fax machine when discs were inserted and ejected, it worked just fine and read games but it annoyed me so i opened it up and cleaned the disc drive ( disc drive model is KEM-860 )

after said cleaning the disc drive no longer took games, eject button did not work either.

all i did was take the disc drive out and cleaned the rubber rollers carefully and brushed it for dust, i did not dismantle any of the parts.

i opened it up more ( carefully ) and i found a random small black spring stuck to the magnet/spindle in the disc drive, removed it and tried again, and still dead.

i have now checked every ribbon cable with a multimeter, inspected for damage and those are all fine, checked all fuses i could find and they are also all fine, also checked everything is connected properly and they all are.

the daughter board does have power, i checked with multimeter in various spots and found nothing wrong or missing, the chips on the daughter board do get warm when the console is powered on for a while.

the random spring i found seems to belong to the manual eject cogwheel, even after placing it back it still did not work, manually inserting and ejecting discs do work using said cogwheel on the side but the console does not read or react to the disc being inside.

i have checked the 3 switches on the back and they are also good and behave correctly, all plastic parts do what they are meant to do and no signs of weird behavior or damage.

there is no sound, or signs of life at all anywhere in the disc drive system.

the eject button did work again randomly after i had it turned on for 15+ minutes but it only beeped, and during my testing, repair attempts etc the "Unrecognized Disc" icon appeared twice, even though i had no disc inside, the eject button did also stop working again once and then randomly worked again after i ejected the "Unrecognized Disc" via the options menu.

i also noticed that sometimes when powering on the console after having it plugged out i need to press the power button twice, the first press just makes it beep but not power on.

i have spent so many hours on this, dismantled said disc drive 10+ times and tested it non stop, watched 7 or 8 videos about the disc drive, and read so many articles, guides and looked at so many pictures of the disc drive and console itself.

can someone please help me out?

i have more pictures and videos of all my testing, parts, and so on if needed

PlayStation 4: Really loose power cord

Hi everyone

Recently, my PS4's power cable has been falling out for no reason, even with the normal vibrations of the console. I'm pretty sure it used to be a snug fit but now even if I just touch it it falls out. Do you think it's just a faulty cable, or could the actual power port inside the console have moved? I tried slowly pushing the cable in but it won't go past a certain point and never fits securely.

PlayStation 4: PS4 won’t turn on (Blue light on)

Hi everyone,

I need your help to diagnose my PS4 problem.

I can’t turn it on, dispite the blue light being on. Neither the touch power button, nor the Dualshock is working to turn it on.

When i unplug the power cable, the blue light turns off, and when i plug it back, the blue light comes back and the PS4 beeps 3 times, but nothing on the screen, i can’t get it turned on or remove my bluray.

I first thought about the power bloc, but considering the light and the beeps, can it still be that or does it comes from something else ?

PlayStation 4: PS4 Won't Turn On, Unresponsive power button and eject button only bee

I left the PS4 running with a game playing. A person in our household sees it and proceeds to unplug the power cord from the outlet (without exiting anything or turning off the PS4). Now I tried turning on the PS4 but it doesn't respond, either through the controller or the power button.

The power button literally doesn't do anything; and if the PS4 is plugged in, the controller light blinks twice or thrice then stops as if it has turned on the PS4 already. (but when the PS4 is unplugged, it only keeps blinking) When I press the eject button, it only beeped once.

I've tried various solutions around the internet such as holding the power button, replugging both power cord and HDMI, trying another outlet and power cord, and tilting it different ways. I was able to manually eject the disc inside, which causes the eject button to beep 3 times now.

I've seen people say that it could be a power supply issue, so I went ahead and bought one online since the warranty is void already. After replacing the power supply, nothing changed. Still the same symptoms.

Anyone here who can help me fix the PS4 or at least give me an indication as to what the problem could be?

PlayStation 4: How can I know if my power supply is faulty or not?

Ok. So couple of weeks before i got a issue with the 4 pin power wire from PSU to motherboard. I wiggled it a bit more and it got destroyed. I went to the repair shop to make it they fixed the wire somehow but After that I got the PS4 on and off issue. Then i asked the repairer he said he couldnot fix it . Its probably the power supply or the APU. But in my case I think its the PSU. So how can I know if my powersupply is faulty or not without putting it into another ps4 or whatsoever. I donot want to spend 50 bucks if the powersupply is alright. And if its not how can I fix the problem . It turns on for a second or two and shuts down .

Yesterday I was going to buy another ps4 but I stopped and wanted to try something I plugged the ps4 into the wall socket directly and left it ON for 5h30 minutes and guess what it stayed ON. The thing is I can't leave the ps4 plugged into the wall socket because it's far and I only have 1 which means No TV... what should I do? why does this problem occur? would a UPS solve the problem? if yes is a pure sine wave one mandatory?

PlayStation 4: Why does my PS4 overheat & turn off after opening any game?

My PS4 is turning off immediately after I open up any game, disc-based or not. The PS4 first gives an on-screen warning that the PS4 is overheating, shortly followed by the light bar on the PS4 flashing a red color, 3 beeps, then a black screen. It does not, however, immediately turn off when I am on the main screen, only when I open up a game. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening? (Additional information: it's the optical drive/HDD area which is overheating, and every time I turn the PS4 back on, it searches the HDD in the same fashion as though I installed a new one, and comes up with the error message that the PS4 what not shut down properly.)

Thanks in advance!

EDIT (2020.04.22): First off, wow I did not realize people even looked at this thread. Second, I want everyone to know I ended up sending my console to Sony, who kindly repaired it even after the warranty had expired (IIRC I only paid for shipping, it’s been so long IDEK). Thank you to Tronics as well as the many people who I have neglected these past (wow) 4 years for your wonderful tips, and best of luck to those who may have this problem in future. Stay savvy.

PlayStation 4: UK PS4 will play USA Blu-ray but not DVDs

When I was living in the UK, I bought a PS4. I am now back living in the USA again, and wanted to play some DVD movies I bought here. When I insert the disc, it will not play because of a region lock. Blu-rays play no problem. I have read that when you put in a DVD, there is a prompt to change the region code, and you can change this up to 4 times. This prompt never appears for me. It just gives me an error code CE-35489-9. PlayStation support says it cannot be changed, which is ridiculous to me, but whatever. Is this a hardware issue or something that can actually be bypassed? I am trying to decide whether to just buy a DVD player or take the PS4 to someone who can help me change the region. As I said, Blu-ray plays fine. Both types were bought here in the US, so I don't understand why the Blu-ray plays but the DVD won't.
