PlayStation 3 Super Slim: Why won't my PS3 spin up a disc even after I replaced the disc drive?

A little while ago I purchased a used PS3 Super Slim (CECH-4301C) from ShopGoodWill. I probably should have fully tested it first before tearing it apart and cleaning it, but after I put it back together, I started it up and everything seemed to work fine until I put in a disc. The disc drive would not spin up the disc at all.

I then took off the cover and pushed the switch that the cover would press when it was closed to see how the disc drive would respond, and I saw that the laser head would move a little, but there was no laser shining and beyond the little movement it wouldn't do anything else.

At first I assumed the problem was the ribbon cable going from the laser head to the motherboard because it was a pretty badly wrinkled, so I found a replacement from a seller on eBay and bought it. I switched it out with the new ribbon cable and turned it on, but when I did, a small amount of smoke came from the laser head. I quickly turned it off then switched the ribbon cable back to the old one to check if everything was fine. Thankfully it was, but obviously the disc drive still didn't work. So I put the new ribbon cable back in and this time when I attempted to start the PS3 it would start for a few seconds then automatically shut off.

I contacted the eBay seller to talk about it and he said that the issue was that the disc drive is shorted somewhere. The motor that moves the laser head is independent of it, and therefore that works fine, but it's shorting in the laser head somewhere and therefore won't spin up the disk at all and the reason why its turning off the PS3

So I bought a new disc drive, the exact same one that comes in the PS3 (KEM-495 AAA) and I put it into the PS3 yesterday, but it still won't spin up a disc. The motor moves the laser head, but the laser won't shine either. So I'm back to square one. The PS3 won't spin up a disc despite me putting in a disc drive that is fully tested and working.

Any idea what the issue could be? At this point, I'm thinking it could be the connector where the ribbon cable connects to the motherboard, or it could be an issue on the motherboard, but everything else works fine, so I don't know how that could be the issue. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

2 years ago the console fell to the ground and since then it turns on but does not show video and the worst of all is that it has a red light to turn on. After that the console turns on and shows the green light but after that it turns off and It does not show video or signs to turn on the fan, and the red LED no longer lights up otherwise there is no light. Could someone please help me. I don't have a multitester to be able to verify that something happened due to the fall. If you have experience or something similar happened to you, please respond.
PlayStation 3 Super Slim: update error 8002F1F9 caused by plugging in a blue-ray disk

My PS3 was not connected with internet (neither wifi nor internet cable). It worked perfectly fine without any issues. Yesterday when I plugged in a blue-ray disk, the system asked me to do a update. I was wondering how could the system do an update without internet, but I still choose to update to give it a try.

The update got stuck in a loop with error message 8002F1F9 at 60%. I changed CMOS battery, but it does not change anything.

Then I downloaded firmware 4.88 from official website, and formatted the HDD disk to FAT32 several times. I entered the safe mode using option 3 to install the firmware from USB. It got stuck in a loop again with error message 8002F1F9 at 46%. I tried as well all the other 5 options in the safe mode, but they all do not give me a pass.

Anyone can help how to save the issue or how to bypass the BT/WIFI check from the firmware 4.88 ?

PlayStation 3 Super Slim: Why is my PS3 super slim not powering on (no light)

Hello!

Today i have a ps3 super slim that, when plugged in, does not turn on or show any lights when plugged in.

I had recently played games on this and had no issues, but noticed the console was getting hot without playing anything.

So I opened it to clean all of the dust out and replace thermal paste. After putting it back together, it started to show signs similar to power supply failure: pressing power button would turn on the console for a few seconds and then power off. Eventually it stopped powering on at all and no longer shows a red light when plugged in.

I have since tried other power outlets, a different power cord, and replaced the power supply. No change in symptoms either. Any other options??

PlayStation 3 Super Slim: Why do my USB ports now sit higher than before? Is it dangerous?

Hello all, I've recently re-applied thermal paste to my old PS3 Super Slim. After the (successful) job, I've been careful to put back components, making them fit properly; sadly I was sitting opposite of the USB ports, and forgot to check them before screwing everything in.

My ports now sit 3-4mm higher than they originally did in the casing. I'm not sure if this has to do with me over-tightening something, or just bad placement of the motherboard in the lower plastic case.

Does anyone know the actual reason? Also, is this worrisome enough to warrant another teardown? It's a rather long process and I would rather not do it, but if - for example - the motherboard risks snapping because of some tension, then I'd rather do it.

I've tried to search online to no avail. Here's a picture for reference, taken as frontal as possible (sorry for the bad quality and case scratches!). You should be able to clearly notice the gap by zooming in.
