PlayStation 2 Slimline: Why is my game disk not spinning?

I had my Playstation 2 'stored' in a drawer of my room. When I decided to rehook it to play after possibly 3-5 years, it was very dusty. I took the time to make sure I blew out remaining dust inside the console and on the surface, along with making sure my game disk was in decent condition to play. I found that my disk was not being read properly no matter how many times I tried, so I looked into detail to see if the laser was working, or if it was spinning. Surprisingly enough, the disk will not spin! The break that will release the disk does release it when the lid is closed, and the console should be detecting the lid is shut, but it just won't spin. It won't with movie DVDs, CDs, or game disks. The first time I tried it, the game worked fine, but then I tried making a new save from it, then the game froze. Therefore, it surely was spinning until the sudden stop after trying to make a new save. If further detail is needed, I will be glad to try to add it.

PlayStation 2 Slimline: Replacing the optical drive of the PS2?

Hi, I have a PS2 that I bought second hand from a friend. Strangely, it works very well with my PSOne CDs, but when I put a PS2 DVD, it starts up, runs across the game opening and crashes. I've been told that is must be the optical drive - my friend must have used it as a DVD drive too - and would have to change. How do I do that?

PlayStation 2 Slimline: Disc not spinning up

I recently bought a “for parts” ps2 slim on eBay that powered on but wouldn’t read discs. I figured it was an issue with the optical drive, so I tried reseating all of the ribbon cables and after pressing down both lid switches the laser started moving and focusing. I tested with a CD in and the motor wouldn’t spin, so I replaced the spindle motor with a new one. Same result. I then tried replacing the laser (and removing the solder joint) thinking maybe it couldn’t read the disk, but still the same result.

I’ve tested the fuses and PS13 seems to have a pretty high resistance of around 9 MOhms, while the others have less than 1 ohm. So I’m thinking about replacing that fuse. Is there anything else I can look for that might be keeping the motor from spinning? I’m having trouble finding any diagrams of this board.

Model number: SCPH-75001

Board version: GH-037-11

Thanks in advance!

PlayStation 2 Slimline: Ps2 disc not spinning after installing new laser

Hey guys. My ps2 had an old laser, the games were running, but quite laggy. So I ordered a new lens for my console.

Today it finally arrived. I successfully replaced the old lens with the new one, but now when I power up the console, the disc doesn't spin. The laser moves to the place where it should start reading, but the disc isn't moving at all!

None of this happened with the old laser. I don't think that I broke something, because everything went smooth.

I tried to run the disc with console taken apart (having those two black sensors pushed down, so it would read the disc), but, as I said before, only the laser moves, zooms in and out and thats all. The disc doesnt move at all!

Any help is appreciated!

P.S. I'm not sure if this helps at all, but the console is modded with Matrix Infinity chip v1.99.

PlayStation 2 Slimline: Why is my old console stop reading discs?

Greeting to whomever, I had the PS2 Slim for 18+ years. It plays & runs normally, but over the years the console beings to show its age. These were minor issues that I could replace, but it has gone to areas that I'm not familiar with; that being the interior of the console. First, the second slot for the memory card couldn't read the memory card & second, the disc reader or the mechanism that spins the disc isn't working properly. (I am aware that those are the known issues in the PS2 line, but it lasted me for so long that I don't want to give up the old console.)

PlayStation 2 Slimline: My PS2 Slim won't turn on.

So I took my PS2 Slim is pretty old and it hasn't been wotking since I moved. Yesterday, I decided to take it out and clean it. At first nothing was working, but after cleaning everything, I finally got power running through it. The Red LED indicator finally started working!

Now, however, it simply isn't turning on. I'm pushing the button (tried it with the top cover on and off), yet it doesn't seem to turn on. I have tried pushing it, holding it, unplugging the whole thing and plugging it back in, etc., but the LED remains red and doesn't turn green, the drive doesn't spin, and the fan isn't turning (probably because the console itself is in "off mode"). Any ideas?

My dad thinks that it might be a blown fuse, or a wire has broken or something. Is there anyway to check for this?

As I wrote this, I troed unplugging it and plugging it back in, and now the LED wont even turn on.
