PlayStation: PlayStation one controller disconnecting and reconnecting.

I've been having this weird issue where my controllers will disconnect(no input is registered) for a few seconds before reconnecting and allowing input again. It will do this over and over again.

This is an upgrade from when I used a previous controller and no input was registered at all. Both that controller and this current controller are third party.

Ive tested swapping the controller ports and nothing changed. I've also tried checking the fuses and everything seemed to be okay( It was my first time using a multimeter so I absolutely could have done something wrong).

Any ideas on what to do next? Im leaning towards it being a controller issue and not a console one, but I'm unsure.

UPDATE: got my hands on a working original ps1 controller and still no input. only thing that works is the analog light on the controller

PlayStation: I need help with some questions and solving some issues.

Hello!

I am planning to fix my Sony Playstation 1 Fat console model SCPH-7501. However, before doing so I have some questions and came across some issues. First I will list my questions and for last I will talk about the issues which I would like to know how to solve. My questions are as follows:

1) Are the KSM-440 AEM and KSM-440 ADM optical eye models compatible with my Sony Playstation 1 fat console model SCPH-7501? If not which models are compatible?

2) Is there a particular best company, which makes replacement Sony Playstation 1 Fat Console model SCPH-7501 optical eyes?

3) Is it possible to find original new Sony Playstation 1 Fat console optical eyes for sale?

4) When do I know if I should either replace the whole optical eye or just the disc spinner?

5) Which product does your company recommend for beginners to use to clean the outside and insides of video-game consoles Isopropyl alcohol or compressed air?

The issues which I came across are:

1) When I turn on my console, sometimes it simply doesn’t display anything on the screen the screen stays black or sometimes the screen freezes on the blue menu screen before the Sony Playstation logo appears. About this issue:

What is causing this issue? How do I solve it?

2) When the console is on and the screen doesn’t freeze, sometimes the “reset button” doesn’t work and sometimes it works.

What is causing this issue? How do I solve it?

3) When I open up the disc tray lid it most of the times just doesn’t close up anymore and the “open button” stays stuck.

What causes this issue? How do I solve it?

Hope someone can help answer these questions and issues which I am having with my Playstation 1 console.

PlayStation: PS1 5002 disk drive not spinning

Hi everyone, I've got a PS1 that I believe has some board problems.

Basically the disk drive doesn't spin at all, doesn't matter what I do, I don't get any reaction.

I've tried to clean the lens, replace the disk drive (with a working one tested on another console) but no luck… I've also tried to install an xstation thinking that it would solve the problem, which obviously didn't change anything (the xstation in now installed on another device which is working just fine).

Doesn anyone have any idea on what could it be wrong? I've searched everywhere on Google and iFixit, but it doesn't seem that anyone had this problem before…

Thank you.

PlayStation: Why is my playstation 1 (non dualshock) controller not working?

Hi all,

I have an original playstation 1 non dualshock controller that isn’t working on my playstation 2 at all. I have done a continuity check and it has all come back with a reading (apart from the black wire, which I think is ground and won’t read if I am correct?).

There is no obviously damage that I can see to the cord, plastics or circuit board.

Just like to add that my playstation 2 controllers are working fine.

Is there anything I could be missing?

PlayStation: Replacement laser assembly compatibility with Japanese SCPH-3500 model

I recently was given a Japanese PlayStation 1, model SCPH-3500. This model is from mid-1995 and is analogous to the U.S. market's SCPH-1001 model. The laser assembly on this model is the older KSM-440ACM, which is the model made with the cheaper plastic laser slide and is prone to failure after a period of time.

Which, in my case, is exactly what happened. The PS1 boots up fine and the drive does spin up, but the laser doesn't work correctly; I hear the laser struggling to move, instead making a loud "CLUNK" against the inner edge of the assembly, as if it's jammed. I'm thinking that I may replace the assembly outright.

Just to confirm, however, I want to be certain that, so long as it's not a laser assembly for the later "PSone" models (the smaller, redesigned system), any laser assembly that I purchase should be a simple drop-in replacement. On the older PS1 models, including the US 1001 models and on mine, the laser assembly is towards the back and closer to the PSU. On the later US 3000 models and later analogous Japanese models, the laser was moved to the right side of the drive.

I'm assuming that the standoffs that the laser assembly sits on are still spaced the same between models? I only had a 1001 model prior to this and never saw the innards of later models.

PlayStation: Game save file on the memory card but game won't read

I bought a oringal PlayStation 1 a couple days ago with it I also bought final fantasy Origins I started playing it before I had to leave for work I saved it twice but when I came back to pick it up again the game said there is no final fantasy data saved on the memory card? So I took the disc out and went to the PS1 main Manu With the only two options "memory card" and CD player I picked memory card and the game file is on there there were two other saves on there since I did buy it pre owed I deleted them thinking maybe they corrupted my save. When I stated the game up again it still gave me no game data found on memory card.
