so i broke my phone a year ago, i got it fixed a few months ago (they changed the LCD and the battery) and then after using for a new months, it suddenly shut down on it's own while I'm watching videos and it doesn't open ever since.

I was replacing the battery in my phone and I believe I broke a trace to my screen when removing it. I got a pink line down the middle of the screen and thus replaced it. Upon doing so I have created an issue where a few hours after sealing the phone a hotspot formed somewhere on the front sensor array under the island. Resulting in a burn spot. I tore the phone back down and realigned and made sure nothing was pinched on the cable. The phone then worked flawlessly for 6 days and tonight has again gotten hot and warmed me of it. I immediately shut the phone off and waited for about an hour. I have now powered it back on and am writing from it without issue. I am perplexed. Do I replace the front sensor cable? Will that disable Face ID? If so then it is completely out of the question as I work on my phone and would be entering password far to often and waste a massive amount of time. If it will maintain Face ID it may be the way forward. If there is any way to stop this overheating issue without more parts then I would be open to suggestions. Worst case I wait until the 18 releases and buy a 17 pro. I absolutely need the 1tb storage.

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to diagnose a phone where the display works normally, but the touchscreen does not respond to touch at all.

The phone has already been factory reset, so I’m trying to rule out software-related issues. Before the reset, I could also trigger the flashlight shortcut with the power button, which suggests the phone itself was still responding normally. However, I could not interact with anything through the touchscreen.

I have opened the phone and inspected it for obvious physical damage. The only visible issue I found is a damaged blue antenna where it connects to the lower board. I’m not sure whether that could be related to the touch problem.

Before I consider replacing the motherboard, I’d like to properly diagnose the touch circuit.

Would you recommend starting with the following?

Inspecting and reseating the display/digitizer flex connector
Checking the connector pins for damage or contamination
Inspecting the board around the touch connector under magnification
Testing with a known-good screen assembly
Checking whether the digitizer is detecting any touch input at all

For the last step, I found a browser-based touchscreen test that can help visualize detected touch points.

If the screen displays normally but the tester detects no touch input anywhere, would that point more toward the digitizer, flex/connector, or touch-controller circuitry?

I’m comfortable with a complete teardown and micro soldering if necessary. I’d mainly like to identify the faulty component before purchasing expensive parts.

Any recommended diagnostic procedure or board-level checks would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I’ve recently encountered an issue with Face ID, specifically with the TrueDepth/dot projector, which has caused Face ID to become disabled.

I’ve already tried the common troubleshooting steps, such as restarting the phone, updating iOS, resetting Face ID, etc., but it appears to be a hardware-related issue.

Is there any way to replace the faulty projector with a new or donor part? I understand that the Face ID components are paired to the phone, so I was wondering whether a programmer such as a JCID could be used to copy the original serial/pairing data and write it to a donor part from another phone.

Would that be enough to restore Face ID, or does this type of repair require transferring components from the original module using microsoldering?

Ok rough breakdown of the situation, I have tried factory resetting the phone, and I have checked internally for any visibly broken components only my blue antenna seems to be physically broken where it connects to the lower board. I am willing to fix/replace anything and am not afraid to do a complete teardown of the phone. but the touch portion of the touch screen isn't working. the display is fine and it doesn't appear to be frozen as when,( before I reset the phone) , I could double tap the power button and the icon for the flashlight would appear but I couldn't interact with the screen via touch. this still remains the case and I am stuck on the first phase of phone setup unable to interact at all. I would love to know what could be the issue and how to diagnose these issues, as long as I can rule out having to get an entirely new motherboard and can instead buy/ micro solder my way around the problem I'm more than willing. any help would be greatly appreciated.
