Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: What is U2 ic?

The fuse F1 on my brush gets blown when I turn it on. When replaced, I can charge the brush, all LED come on and U2 IC gets super hot. I assume this one drains a lot off current, tripping the fuse. I can’t find any information on what the IC is. On my toothbrush that IC has IU2FJ on it, another has IU2GG on it. I was looking for a 6 pin TSOP IU2 IC, but can’t find anything. I assume is some kind of power management IC.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: My sonicare toothbrush loses power

Hey my sonicare toothbrush sometimes works, sometimes doesn't turn on any lights. If I hit sink couple of times with side of bottom it will turn on (lights up) and will work but then again does not.

Rubber button is in perfect condition. Clicky as always and works 100% time if lights are on.

It's exactly 3 years old.

Also it seems it's more difficult to take it off the charger but if it's in "working mode" it will charge normally, maybe something about the magnet.

What can I do?

When I go to hit the power button my toothbrush vibrates 3-4 times in sets of two but won't turn on and vibrate. No lights show or anything... Also, it won't charge when in the case or the glass cup. Is it a battery issue or what?

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: Securing metal shaft into metal housing

I've taken apart my Sonicare toothbrush to fix a loose connection and see that the straight metal shaft has completely dislodged from the metal housing piece. It can be reinserted, but is not secure, and thus slips out. How can I ensure a tight fit before reassembling? I'm not sure if the original was one piece and mine is simply broken, or if some sort of glue bond has been compromised. Thanks!

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: Metal head attachment & metallic driver rotated resulting in noise

My Sonicare was suffering from one of the usual problems that the magnets and the metallic driver were too close and I had to increase the distance between the two (see description here) which was a rather easy fix. I have also ordered a new metal head including the plastic parts to again have a properly watertight toothbrush.

However, there is one remaining issue which results in a lot of noise. The triangular shaped part where the metal head is attached using a screw is rotated as shown in the image below (red arrow points to rotated triangular shaped part):

This is due to an issue "lower down" in the toothbrush where the metallic driver (blue arrow in image below) - which is directly connected/linked to the above mentioned "triangular shaped" part - is rotated as well.

By forcing quite a bit I can rotate it back to "normal" position, however, as soon as I switch on the toothbrush the whole thing gets stuck again in the rotated position.

My two possible explanations so fare are that a) the magnetic force in the two magnets has somehow changed which results in a rotation or b) there was some abrasion or similar on the surface of the metallic driver which results in this rotation.

Any ideas on how to fix this would be highly appreciated!

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: Not Charging When in Outer Case

The pcb on the toothbrush was shorting & had blown the F1 fuse. Obtained a replacement board from China, removed old & replaced with new. When the brush without the outer casing is placed on the charger, it charges with green light flashing. Brush also works as it should & can be reset. So I thought great, fixed! But, when I place inside the outer case & place on charger, it no longer charges, green light does not flash. Brush will switch on but just does not charge. Does anyone have any thoughts on why this is happening? Many thanks David

So the outer case is a hollow shell with an end piece. There is no electrical contact, presumably a current is induced in the coil to recharge the battery. As you can see from the attached video all is ok when the case is on. Thanks for taking an interest.

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: Phillips Sonicare Will Not Turn On After Disassembly, But Blinks

Hey guys!

I looked up a video to fix my Phillips Sonicare toothbrush that was rattling. The actuator screw had come out completely which was the original issue. However now after reassembly the toothbrush won’t turn on, but it still blinks when I plug it in as if it’s “charging”. It also vibrates slightly when I try to turn it on or change the mode when it’s on the stand. It’s a model 5100.

I checked the voltage of the battery and it’s reading 3.6 volts, and I used it just before taking it apart, so I don’t think the battery is the issue. I’ve also looked over the toothbrush thoroughly and don’t see any disconnected wires, corrosion, or other obvious issues.

Any ideas why it isn’t powering up? Is it possible that it won’t power on until it’s completely charged up again in the charger? Any help would be appreciated!

Philips Sonicare DiamondClean: HX9350 Vibrates One Short Pulse, then Shuts Off

Hi all,

I have a Sonicare DiamonClean HX9350. When I press the power button, I get a very quick short vibration buzz and then the unit shuts off. This can be repeated indefinitely. The unit is over 7 years old so I suspect it may be time for a battery. However, I don’t necessarily want to buy a battery if that isn’t the issue.

The unit flashes as if the battery is full when put on charge, but I know that isn’t an indication of battery capacity.

I already have the unit apart. There was a little moisture inside so I’ll probably want to replace the seal or shaft, but I don’t see any corrosion.

I’m more or less wondering if anyone has seen this symptom…

Thanks!
