Palm Treo 700P: My Treo 700p beams memos to another Treo700p as documents, not memos.

For some reason, my backup Palm Treo 700p is having a problem with new memos I try to beam to it. The new memos all of the sudden are being received as documents, not memos. I've tried a soft reset and a warm reset with no luck. I've tried turning beam receive off and on with no change. Short of doing a hard reset and beaming everything, anybody have any ideas why memos are being received as documents, and how to change it?

Palm Treo 680: No service (no GSM signal from any carrier)

I have a Palm Treo 680 which has developed a strange problem.

It shows "No service" instead of the network operator name.

This is different from actually not having signal from my network (like when hiking the mountains), because then it would show "No signal, SOS only" if it still picks up other GSM networks.

The problem happens in the city, so it's the phone, not the network.

The problem is intermittent, because it depends on the following:

- turning GSM off and then back on

- mechanichal shock (hitting, dropping the phone; small shock)

- pressing and slightly deforming the casing on the back above the speaker

I am experienced with dismantling the phone as I changed the case and digitizer already. I opened the phone and discovered that fiddling with the contacts to the metal plate on the back, above the speaker sometimes helps.

I cleaned the contacts, it helped marginally, after a day or so the problem was back.

I used a bit of sand paper on the PCB and on the metal plate contacts. Solved the problem for a couple of hours.

I soldered the metal plate contacts to the PCB. Solved the problem for about 3 days.

Then the problem returned.

Now I get signal just by chance, couldn't establish any rule, apparently random luck.

Palm Phone: getting videos off dead Palm Pixi

I need to get some videos off a dead Palm Pixi. Believe it was plugged into higher amp/voltage charger, by accident. I have a working Palm Pixi as well and have switched batteries, etc. It won't boot up. Is there a way to take the flash memory off the dead one and put on the working one?
