PSP 2000: PSP working with power supply but functioning batteries not detected

Hi,

I am experiencing a weird issue on my PSP 2006 and I wonder if any one got an answer for that. I am trying my luck as I could not find such existing thread online (yet)! Basically, the PSP do not recognize batteries, which are proven to work on another PSPs, though PSP works when connected to wall socket.

Well, in nutshell:

- PSP works while connected to power outlet

- PSP does not even start when on battery.

- When plugged in with battery, if I disconnect the power supply cable, PSP will turn off immediately

- When plugged in with battery, the battery indicator at the top right of the screen shows 3 bars and disappears alternatingly every 5 seconds or so.

- When plugged in with battery, when going to the battery info menu it does not disclose the details (dashes) and power source shows as "Exernal"

- The PSP battery port (3 pins) looks just fine.

- I have contacted a PSP repair shop but they mentioned it could be a mobo issue which they are not exactly handling...

Where could the issue come from?

Thanks in advance !

Oli

PSP 2000: Backlight won't work. My question: Which Fuse do I need to bridge?

Hello, my question is in the title.

The PSP (Mod. 200x) is operating completely normal. It was unused for many years now and when I turned it on the display was apparently not functioning. After I shone some light on it while on I could clearly see that the problem was not with the display but with the Backlight. I’ve read that many people just bridged it with soldering metal and it worked just fine so I want to bridge the fuse too but in order to do this I need to know which fuse exactly I need to bridge.

I will add some pictures of the Mainboard. What I’ve done: I disassembled the whole console, cleaned most contacts with Isopropyl Alcohol.

It’s confusing because I have seen many videos but most of them are with the 100x, 300x models or the PSP Go. And the sources I found on the 200x model (which I have) always mean different fuses to be bridged/fixed.

PSP 2000: Uncommon "the disc could not be read" problem PSP 2001 - not the usual

Hello, I am experiencing a strange issue where UMDs can only be read after a fresh firmware install. I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting guides I could find online and browsed the sub for similar problems, but I couldn’t find anything like this.

The laser seems to be working—it moves back and forth, as well as up and down. The discs spin fine initially, but I noticed that after the error appears once, the disc won’t spin again unless I completely shut the system off and turn it back on. Occasionally, if I remove the battery for a minute or two, it will read the games.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

PSP 2000: Why am I getting irregular voltages from the psp charging socket. and

The batteries of my psp 2000 and psp 1000 game consoles were dead. I used the original bms circuit of the batteries and assembled them on circuits with the same epproom, but it cannot charge the new 1500 mah 3.7 V batteries I installed and the orange light flashes slowly when I plug it in. However, the battery in the video has its own BMS circuit, I tried everything. I installed only Sony BMS and it did not work, I used two BMSs and it did not work, I used only the non-original BMS and it did not work. I would be glad if you could help, have a good day. (fuses are intact)

PSP 2000: Psp 2001 not reading umd discs

This is a followup to a recent forum board post that I did. I have a psp 2001 series that isn't reading umd discs. The disk drive broke before covid started and I didn't know about ifixit.com. My psp has a umd disk drive KHM-420 BAA.

I changed the disk drive and my psp still isn't reading umd discs. What happens is that the system attempts to read the disc, the little animation symbol appears in the lower right hand corner, but the title of the disk never appears on screen. I have some ideas.

1) There is something else that I need to do after changing the umd disk drive

2) I got a bad part off of amazon

3) There is another hardware part besides the umd drive that reads umd disks.

4) I have an unsolvable problem.

I have replaced disk drives before. My psp isn't jailbroken in any way. I can do other things like see game saves, use the psp wifi. I can't imagine what the problem might be.
