PSP 1000: PSP Analog seems stuck, always running right

Hello, had a problem with my memory card reader so replaced that.

Since putting it back together the menu's work ok with the directional pad but when I load a game the character just runs to the right all the time in Dexter. Tried with another game that boots to the menu and it keeps scrolling downwards in the menus (could be due to it going right?)

I've tried removing the analog stick, but the character still goes right in game. Also tried cleaning the connections on the d pad and the analog connection and still is the same.

Also I have to press down hard of the dpad for it to work (just the down arrow). Everything else seams to work ok on the psp 1000.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

PSP 1000: PSP 1000 Homebrew how-to

Recently, I dug out my PSP 1000 "Fat', I had recently read that you can add firmware hacks that will allow you to run emulators and other cool stuff on your PSP. Since I wanted to give my old PSP some new life, I figured that I would do it. After some research, I have found out a few things, but nothing really in a step-by-step process. I already have a pandora battery and the ability to downgrade my FW (HC Recovery Flasher On ChickHEN), and I can boot the machine into ChickHEN for some of the functionality, but it gets tedious trying to get the PSP to boot into that every time the battery dies. I don't know how to install the firmware, so can someone explain the process in a step-by-step manner? Thanks! Also, I have a PSP 1000, software ver. 5.03, a 2GB memory stick, and 2 batteries (1 Pandora, 1 Regular).

PSP 1000: PSP detects select and analog when not pressed

As the title says, the console detects that the select is being pressed and the analog moves down without being connected. The console only turns on if the select is held down, just like the rest of the buttons only work if the select is held down. It also happens, that if I release the select, the console stays on hold. Sometimes when I press a button and release the select, the button stays pressed. I have replaced the flex with a new one but the problem remains and even if the flex is not connected the console still detects it.

A customer brought in a PSP 1K that I’ve been having trouble with. When the AC adapter is plugged in the orange light comes on to indicate that it is charging, but it will not turn on at all. I’ve tried powering it on with battery and no AC, with AC and no battery, and with both together. Cleaned power switch internals, tried swapping the power switch daughterboard, and of course swapped out the battery. Any ideas? I’ve heard this is a common problem, but I still can’t find any actual solutions online.

PSP 1000: Sony PSP charger not working

I have been using my PSP 1000 for over 6 years with no problems whatsoever. The charger was doing equally good too...till I lent my PSP and charger to my relative.

A week later he called me saying that the charger no longer charges the PSP. There no orange light when the charger is plugged in. The PSP 1000's charger is made up of two sections, a standard three pin plug to the mains and connected to a 5v 2000mA AC adapter which is the end which you plug into the PSP.

While plugging in the charger no longer charges my PSP, however the AC adapter do gets extremely hot. My relative did admit that he may have knocked the charger on a hard surface a couple of times. Perhaps that is the cause of the problem. But how can I fix it?

PSP 1000: Joy Stick Barely Works. Connection is bad. Advice?

Howdy iFixit! I bought this PSP from the thrift store because it was only $30. (Expensive Thrift Stores here haha). It works really well in most cases except for the joy stick. It hardly responds to movement, and the curser/player when you're using it moves around on its own. If you apply pressure to the PSP in that area, it sort of starts working. From what I've researched, the contact from the joystick to the logic board has separated some, so it doesn't really contact the board that well. That's what I've diagnosed, too.

The problem is, however, that I don't really know how to fix it. Anyone else had this problem before? I think it all happens when the PSP is dropped. :P
