Toshiba Laptop: Where can I find the drivers for this machine?

Before I get burned in the comments for buying a Toshiba, this is a vintage unit with a Celeron Coppermine, this is not one of the modern units. That out of the way... It came with the HD <del>so I can probably defeat the Win9x/ME "security" and drop the driver store folder out of System32 onto a few floppy disks</del> (it had XP installed, not 9x or ME), but if the drive is dead (It works but has SMART errors and spins down/fails to seek at times, it's dead -- -1 Nwipe error while preparing it for a OS), that will not work for me. This one is the 2800-S201. I did get some drivers off of it at least.

I looked on the Dynabook site, and the driver drop does not work for this model. I checked the Internet Archive and found a 2800-500 restore disk set, but the disk probably will not work since these vintage Toshibas are infamous for checking the machine type being I found English UK media and I have a English US model. Outside of that are there any other sources I can get the drivers from if the HD is dead and the driver store trick is a lost cause?

acer nitro 5 AN517-51-75X3: How to Troubleshoot Acer Laptop Not Powering On

I have a 2020 Acer Nitro 5 AN517-51-75X3. It doesn't show many signs of life and I've met a dead end in troubleshooting. Does anyone have any idea how to proceed?

This is what I observe

If I plug in the charger, the blue battery light is stable

Absolutely nothing happens when pressing the power button: no fans, no lights, no beeps, nothing

I am comfortable with a screwdriver and own an Ifixit pro toolkit so I can get pretty much anywhere, but I have not been able to find any schematics online for this motherboard, and although all ports are labeled, most labels are just some letters and numbers, and not actually informative. Acer and their service partners probably have a list for that, but I wasn't able to find it online, so I'm flying partially blind.

I have tried these things:

There are no peripherals connected to the laptop.

hold the power button for 10, 25, 30, 60 seconds as well as a lot more times for different durations

remove battery and charger, hold power button for 90 seconds to drain residual energy

use a multimeter to confirm the battery delivers power (~16.8V, should be anywhere between 14.5 and 17.9v, so that's fine)

use a multimeter to confirm the charger delivers the appropriate voltage to the motherboard (measured behind the thing where the power socket wire connects to the motherboard)

use a multimeter to confirm the keyboard connector has power to ground at least at several pins

use a multimeter to verify the CMOS battery delivers charge (~3v)

reseat RAM

reseat a lot of other connectors

visually inspect entire motherboard, there are no signs of damage to the motherboard, capacitors, or anywhere else.

short the 1&2 pins on the keyboard connector to ground (separately) to try and force a boot

Nothing I try seems to make any discernable difference to the laptop behaviour.

This is what I'm looking for

I would like some pointers on what else I can test or verify to try and pinpoint the issue. Currently my only remaining guesses are

1) the keyboard is non-functional, and since that contains the on/off button, the laptop can't turn on because of it.

2) the motherboard is toast, but I consider this unlikely because 1) it's never the motherboard and 2) there are no visible burns, leakages or damages anywhere

Does anybody have an idea on:

how I could eliminate or confirm the keyboard as a cause (preferably without having to buy a new keyboard because those are expensive for a test),

how I could test/eliminate/confirm the motherboard as a cause

what other things I could test

Thanks in advance!

HP Pavilion 14: HP Pavilion 14 black screen, fan spins, external monitor and BIOS recovery fail

HP Pavilion 14 turns on with power button light, and the fan spins up after a short delay, but the screen stays completely black.

I have already tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:

- Performed a hard reset (holding power button for 30 seconds)

- Attempted BIOS recovery (Windows key + B)

- Researched and reseated the RAM module

- Tested with an external monitor via HDMI (no signal on external display either)

- Checked for error code blinking lights (none)

Since basic recovery and hardware checks have failed, what could be causing this persistent black screen issue, and how can it be diagnosed further?

HP Victus 15: MediaTek Bluetooth repeatedly crashes with Code 43 after ~1 hour of au

I have an HP Victus 15-fa0033dx gaming laptop (SKU 9T9R8UA#ABA) running:

Windows 11 Home

Version 25H2

OS Build 26200.8875

Experience Pack 1000.26100.334.0

MediaTek Bluetooth adapter

Bluetooth hardware ID:
USB\VID_13D3&PID_3567&MI_00

Current driver: MediaTek 1.3.17.162, dated 4/25/2024

Bluetooth initially works normally, but after extended use—particularly Bluetooth audio—the adapter stops responding.

I'm using TOZO A1 Bluetooth earbuds. In my latest test, I connected them at 11:20 AM and played audio continuously. Bluetooth stopped working at approximately 12:45 PM, after about 85 minutes.

Event Viewer errors

When it fails, Windows logs:

BTHUSB Event ID 3:

A command sent to the adapter has timed out. The adapter did not respond.

It can repeat several times. For example, on August 17:

12:45:31 — Event 3

12:51:33 — Event 3

12:51:38 — Event 3

Then:

BTHUSB Event ID 17:

The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded.

After this, Device Manager shows the MediaTek Bluetooth adapter with:

Code 43 — Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

Bluetooth disappears from Windows Quick Settings and Windows reports that Bluetooth is turned off even though the toggle may still appear enabled.

Things I've already tried

Multiple normal restarts

Powering the laptop completely off

Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter

Uninstalling/reinstalling the Bluetooth device

Installing/updating HP drivers and firmware

Checking Device Manager

Checking Event Viewer

Checking power-management settings

Updating the HP software/firmware components

At one point, uninstalling the device resulted in:

Unknown USB Device — USB Device Descriptor Failure

The Wi-Fi portion of the wireless adapter continues working normally.

Important test

I booted Bazzite Linux from a separate blank 1 TB external HDD.

The same laptop, same MediaTek Bluetooth adapter, and same TOZO A1 earbuds worked normally in Bazzite while playing Bluetooth audio continuously. It survived the test without the Bluetooth adapter crashing.

This makes me suspect a Windows driver/firmware/software issue rather than a physical Bluetooth hardware failure.

Current driver investigation

Windows is currently using:

oem87.inf

with:

MediaTek 1.3.17.162

I also found another MediaTek Bluetooth INF in the Windows Driver Store that explicitly supports my exact hardware ID:

USB\VID_13D3&PID_3567&MI_00

located at:

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\mtkbtfilter.inf_amd64_4e18fe2e122d5d00\mtkbtfilter.inf

I haven't changed to that package yet because I'm trying to determine its exact driver version first.

Main question

What could be causing the MediaTek Bluetooth controller to consistently hang after extended Bluetooth audio use in Windows 11 25H2, while the exact same hardware works reliably under Bazzite Linux?

I'm particularly interested in whether this points to a MediaTek driver/firmware issue, Windows 11 25H2 compatibility problem, or another software-level issue, and what the safest next troubleshooting step would be. (p.s. this is a summary of an insanely long thread with ChatGPT)
