The problem is that neither the built-in keyboard nor any external USB keyboards (tested in multiple ports) respond at this screen, making it impossible to press F9 or Esc. I have already tried:

- Hard power resetting and using the emergency reset hole

- Trying different USB ports

- Disconnecting the main battery and coin-cell (CMOS) battery for 10+ minutes to reset the BIOS state

Despite these steps, the prompt remains and input devices are completely dead at this BIOS/TPM screen. What could be causing input failure at the pre-boot stage on this model, and how can this be resolved?

Bluetooth initially works normally, but after extended use—particularly Bluetooth audio—the adapter stops responding.

I'm using TOZO A1 Bluetooth earbuds. In my latest test, I connected them at 11:20 AM and played audio continuously. Bluetooth stopped working at approximately 12:45 PM, after about 85 minutes.

When it fails, Windows logs:

BTHUSB Event ID 3:

A command sent to the adapter has timed out. The adapter did not respond.

It can repeat several times. For example, on August 17:

• 12:45:31 — Event 3
• 12:51:33 — Event 3
• 12:51:38 — Event 3

Then:

BTHUSB Event ID 17:

The local Bluetooth adapter has failed in an undetermined manner and will not be used. The driver has been unloaded.

After this, Device Manager shows the MediaTek Bluetooth adapter with:

Code 43 — Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

Bluetooth disappears from Windows Quick Settings and Windows reports that Bluetooth is turned off even though the toggle may still appear enabled.

• Multiple normal restarts
• Powering the laptop completely off
• Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter
• Uninstalling/reinstalling the Bluetooth device
• Installing/updating HP drivers and firmware
• Checking Device Manager
• Checking Event Viewer
• Checking power-management settings
• Updating the HP software/firmware components

At one point, uninstalling the device resulted in:

The Wi-Fi portion of the wireless adapter continues working normally.

I booted Bazzite Linux from a separate blank 1 TB external HDD.

The same laptop, same MediaTek Bluetooth adapter, and same TOZO A1 earbuds worked normally in Bazzite while playing Bluetooth audio continuously. It survived the test without the Bluetooth adapter crashing.

This makes me suspect a Windows driver/firmware/software issue rather than a physical Bluetooth hardware failure.

Windows is currently using:

oem87.inf

with:

MediaTek 1.3.17.162

I also found another MediaTek Bluetooth INF in the Windows Driver Store that explicitly supports my exact hardware ID:

I haven't changed to that package yet because I'm trying to determine its exact driver version first.

What could be causing the MediaTek Bluetooth controller to consistently hang after extended Bluetooth audio use in Windows 11 25H2, while the exact same hardware works reliably under Bazzite Linux?

I'm particularly interested in whether this points to a MediaTek driver/firmware issue, Windows 11 25H2 compatibility problem, or another software-level issue, and what the safest next troubleshooting step would be. (p.s. this is a summary of an insanely long thread with ChatGPT)

My problem is obvious from the title. A temporary solution i have is to just take out the ssd and put it back in at which point it works perfectly for a couple or few days before freezing where the only way out is a restart through the power button where I'm met with the same error again. How do I fix this problem permanently?

Reinstall my OS (I use Linux Mint)?

Changing the UEFI option in the boot menu and back didn't do anything.

Maybe it's a problem with the motherboard?

I looked on the Dynabook site, and the driver drop does not work for this model. I checked the Internet Archive and found a 2800-500 restore disk set, but the disk probably will not work since these vintage Toshibas are infamous for checking the machine type being I found English UK media and I have a English US model. Outside of that are there any other sources I can get the drivers from if the HD is dead and the driver store trick is a lost cause?
