My XO-4 has power but won't boot up. If I hold down the game buttons while turning it on, it shows this 00 on the screen.

Otherwise i get just a blank white screen. It booted up normally a few times before but now only the power button seems to work. I don't know this laptop's history as I got it second hand.

UPDATE: a power refresh had no effect, changing the clock battery didn't fix it either. I got the laptop to boot up once, to the hardware self-test (which it passed). But then the 00 screen came right back.

After some research I suspect a firmware problem. One of my comments below was overly optimistic - OLPC's own wiki says the 00 screen is an "early" error code:

During the early boot process, CForth initializes a tiny frame buffer in SRAM and uses it to display error codes on the display. In a normal boot, all you see is a flash of white. But if something goes wrong early on, a large blocky two-digit number will be displayed.

Most of those numbers come from OFW - they correspond to the "Msg #: 41" numbers seen when compiling OFW. CForth kicks off the process but OFW follows up. CForth is responsible for making the numbers visible if you press check during the boot process or if OFW doesn't take over the display within 8 seconds.

But what error does "00" mean?

How do I verify the original CPU and motherboard specification? The sales receipt says: "Microsoft Surface Laptop, Copilot+ PC, C12 Snapdragon X Elite Processor, 16GB, 512GB, 13.8" PixelSense Display, Black"

when I press power on, the keyboard light will stay for about 5 secs and then is off, but the fan is still running. All these happen while the screen is pitch black, never shows neither a light nor blink, no logo display. Now, if I press power button one more time, the fan will then shut off, like it was never turned on.

Awkwardly, if I connect an external monitor, the external monitor will be also black. is it supposed to show "NO Signal" instead of Black? What type of issue is it? Video Card?

I have tried the NOVO button, F2, F12, etc. but nothing works

Please help. Let me know if my description is unclear!! thank you.

Hello,

I have been using an HP EliteBook 8560p for a while now. It performs tasks very well when on battery power, but when plugged in, it becomes unresponsive and unusable. It was hard to get the task manager screenshot, but I managed.

For some reason, the CPU is at 0.11 GHz when plugged in, but it goes to around 1 GHz (an average speed on the desktop with all apps closed) when on battery power. Can anyone explain and help me solve the significant slowdown of the CPU when plugged in? Thanks.
