Black and Decker Wizard RT550: chuck that is easily removable, but I cannot figure how to take it ap

I disassembled the tool. There's a separate section with the chuck that is easily removable, but I cannot figure how to take it apart... and I repair stuff all the time. So here I am.

It looks as if something is clogging the slots in the collet, preventing it from gripping... if I could get it apart, I could clean it.
