Oregon Scientific Meep! X2: Can't set up parent control, timed out

I'm trying to set up the parent controls and it said my child's birthday it not valid. Then it timed out and said try again later. I have been trying for over an hour to get in and I still can't get any farther than this.

I have a meep tablet and the operating system it came with is crap . info on it is here ,Oregon Scientific Meep! X2 . the usb cable is not working either. please help me fix my 3 year old tablet so it can entertain people who aren't actually 3 years old .

I reseted my device by pressing the back reset button. After turning my device back on it wouldn't allow me to press English or press the continue button. I tried with different languages but the same thing happens.
